From what I have seen and heard it will take any where from 1-5 months for the va to finalize your claim and you to start receiving payments from them.

So I had some changes on ebenefits today and I was wondering what it means. It shows my claim thru ides closed and another case open. I have attached two screen shots any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Just received 199. PEB did a reconsideration and found me unfit for 2 more conditions that gave me 30% and permanent retirement without having to go to formal board.

In need of help! I've been in the va reconsideration stage for well over 150 days. I recently found out from a very special someone at the VA that the reason I haven't gotten my ratings is because the DOD has failed to send over 2 memos from my unfitting cases. One was supposed to be submitted back in March and the other in June. The entire time my Peblo has blamed the Va for the delay. I told my Peblo what I knew and she got very testy with me. She wandered how I even found that info out. She called me back the next day and told me that the folks in Washington who are in control of all paperwork after it is signed in Peblo office were going to have a meeting about my case and get it resolved. Friday was the meeting. VA still hasn't received those memos and it's Wednesday. I called my Peblo and she gave me another testy attitude. She now is saying she has no more info and she will call me back. I called my MeB attorney and he had stated he cannot help me. My DAV lady keeps saying nothing can be done on their end until those memos are sent. Let me add that I got denied into WTB recently and nobody told me. I happened to find out. I as well came down on involuntary seperation orders and need to be out by April 1. This entire ordeal has been so confusing and stressful. I feel like I am in a black hole. Supposedly we have counsel to help us well I do not see the help coming. Anybody have any idea what I can do? I'm afraid the delay may cause me to seperate involuntary without DOD retirement. My command is questioning things as well. The PEB is saying my command has no input or control. What would you do? Anyone else in a similar situation?

I would get your COC involved or at least notify them and if they can not do something contact IG or a congressman. I would make sure you exhaust all other means but it seems you have

All right! :) Hmm, it makes me wonder as to why the PEB didn't find you "unfit for duty" for those two additional medical conditions initially if new medical evidence/documentation wasn't introduced at this point in time?

Nonetheless, indeed, congratulations on your forthcoming military disability "permanent" retirement! :D Take care and now it's time to enjoy life again!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

I had a spinal procedure done after my stuff was sent up in which I got hurt by the physician. He punctured my spinal sac, two blood patches, hematoma developed in my spine, and now arachnoiditis has been diagnosed. They added it as unfit and told me it was sent to VA back in March and also another in June. I now find out VA hasn't received them.

Wow! Indeed, I am saddened to hear this type of news albeit it's the primary reason why I "avoided" any lumbar surgery from the back area until I was specialty referred to a civilian healthcare neurosurgeon that performed an ALIF spinal fusion via the stomach area!

Nonetheless, it great that the PEB adjudicated an "unfit for duty" determination on the unfortunate residual medical condition albeit I am definitely uncertain as to why the DoVA D-RAS has not received the updated information from the PEB at this point in time!

I am currently in the VA rating stage. Here is my timeline:

P3 reffered: 1/08/2014
VA Claim: 1/10/2014
QTC Exams: 2/07/2014
MEB (completed): 06/02/2014
Informal PEB: 07/28/2014

I am 15 days into VA rating according to IDES dashboard, but it has been over a month since I recieved my unfit memo. Who really knows.

I had to seek legal counsel to ammend my Narsum. I was successful, but that is why the lapse between VA exams and the completed MEB exists. In addition the PEB caught errors on my Narsum, and sent it back to be fixed.

Well I got my final ratings last month. Man they were really fast. I retired 20 July, got a partial retirement check in the beginning of August as well as My final ratings effective date of 1 Aug. I got my first pay check from VA and DoA at the end of August. I also got a job at the VA. Thanks for all the help and support.

Sounds like an awesome outcome overall. Congrats

Cheeky- are you army reserve of Active duty?

thanks

Active Duty. I checked Ebenefits today, and my status has changed. It says Pending Decision Approval.

I got mine 5 days after they made decision. But mine was at AMC. They move quicker.

Yes Sir, Thanks!, got hold of PEBLO today she said 100 VA/70 DOD, waiting on DA 199 next.

For my second go around much faster response.....
180 days from the time unfit letter was sent to the VA an then received ratings. Jan 9, 2014 to July 9, 2014.

All most a month later....Received 199 on Monday it was actually 100VA/80DOD, waiting for legal review today and then sign and wait on orders.;)

I have been really busy with us moving and hopefully things will slow down a bit.

According to the good ol FT Polk VA rep that filed my case it will take about 9 months from the day I get my unfit letter for the VA to give me preliminary ratings, and everyone on this Forum that had a fast turnaround with their ratings are lying. Just thought I’de share the BS I’m getting fed with you guys.

Why would people lie about their timelines? They really vary from case to case and location. I have only been waiting since July 28 (day I got my unfit memo). I unofficially got my VA rating yesterday. I am just waiting for it to come through the pipelines from my PEBLO so I can sign my 199.

The representatives give you a "by the book" estimate so that you prepare for the wait. It can take a long time, but sometimes it goes quickly. My average timeline on my IDES dashboard says 63 days. They are definately speeding things up. I also know someone who recieved their packet back after a week. I have heard of people waiting 3 months to a year. It really just depends.

1 Oct 13 to 18 Aug 14 for the VA to complete my ratings. 448 days in the IDES as of today. Who really knows how some go fast and others drag on. I'm just ready for it to be done with.
