Seattle Regional VA Timelines:

Hey everyone! My husband is actually going through the med board process right now. I don't have his full time line in front of me but he was found unfit and paperwork was received at the VA Seattle on April 9th, 2013 (115 days today). He is only claiming 1 condition for the army so I didn't think it would be a long process at all. Ebenefits shows "Preperation for decision" and it has been the same since 5/31. His PEBLO tells him that she cannot see anything and he just has to wait, he called the 1-800 VA number today and that person said they can't see anything either. He asked what his recourse is once they have reached the 120 day mark and the person on the line told him there isn't any recourse and he just has to wait. So I'm curious who does have that info and what he can do if it exceeds the 120 day mark. We've been waiting what seems like forever (even though reading this forum it really isn't as long as most of you!). He has a job interview in Seattle on October 4th and I would love if we can be done with this and moved in time for the interview! Any advice or assistance to prevent me from going crazy would be appreciated!

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

In my opinion, any outcome/result from the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process is potentially feasible. I do recall some PEB Forum members with only 1 PEB-referred unfitting condition to experience an unusually (what seemed like a) swift IDES case file processing for the DoVA D-RAS' requirement.

Nonetheless, whether you decide to use the services of a VSO and/or submit a congressional inquiry for any potential assistance, please beware there are "pros and cons" of each decision while in the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process. As such, you are probably aware of these potential issues since being a current member on the PEB Forum.

That said, I offer that you decide wisely and continue to remain positively proactive throughout your interactions while in the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process. Yet, any potential decision made while in the DoD IDES process shall have favorable and/or unfavorable life-long ramifications for your husband, you and your family. ;)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Wow....just went to post to sort it all out and get some answers...aaaaaaaaaaaand......heres what i got, went to the MSC to get some translation on my recent change, heres what they said..."Don't rely on eBenefits so much, that page is for actual veterans, if you want to know about your ratings, go talk to your peblo." After some talking and arguing, i realized that i wasn't going to get any answers from him or the 4 other reps in there that were basically laughing in my face because i couldn't come up with the proper answers at the time. So....being that Reynolds (our hospital here at lovely ft sill) put its MEB office at the 3rd floor and took 1/2 the VA with it, i went there to hopefully talk to the peblo and VA reps...again. I get there and my peblo, who avoids me like the plauge, gives me the worst look ever, i just want some answers. so she forwards me to the VA office and they then told me to come back next tuesday or thursday..for walk-ins........does it ever stop!? Why is it such a f*ckin secret?

How long did it take from the time you noticed the change on Ebene's till you got youre ratings? Mine just did the same last thrusday! The MSCs and the others up there are good for jumping around the truth my peblo is great tho Ive been bugging her and she hasn't lost her head yet not even close so.... yup I think I got a decent one.

Seems the DoVA D-RAS disapproved your VARR request, so what's your next step?

Wow! Your VARR request memo was submitted AFTER mine and your VARR request reply memo was received BEFORE mine all in less than a 1 month duration; I am still awaiting results! Therefore, it's an interesting point-of-fact indeed; in my opinion of course. ;)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

I'm talking to PEB legal. To see if I can have a formal hearing or not.

I got my COL involved and within a couple of days my ratings magically appeared at the PEB. Have you called the DAV to see if the VA finished and sent your ratings?

I'm already retired with proposed ratings, just been almost 5 months to receive my final ratings! And yes I'm n contact with DAV

I would def get your chain of command involved and see if they can work some magic. It doesn't hurt to try!

im already out of the army lol i no longer have a COC!

not sure if your aware but you also have a 1-5 month wait for ratings once your seperated from the military

You're right.. maybe ebennies doesn't work for everyone.

I have tried to call the 1800 number and I never have any luck with the number, also my Eben website isn't updated either and my Memo for Unfit was sent to VA on 31 July 2013. I am being patient as I know it can take some time. I just was hoping my Eben would update as it has previous with updates.

If the the VA recieved your unfit just July 31 then you still have awhile before you get your ratings' I'd say 1-4 months! Also ebenefits is built for vets than it is for IDES but If you get a rater that updates your claim for the purpose of ebenefits then that's a good thing!

And calling 1800 # is just like checking ebenefits but your talking to a live person

Just a heads u I might not be back on here got my ratings today!!! 30x90 permanent retire! just waiting on my orders now!! thanks to all that help to keep us sane!

I received my LOI back in November of 2011. Unfit 15 January 13. My status on Ebenefits just changed back to Gathering Of Evidence, and under required documents it says "Requested Separation Documents". Is this a good thing??

SSG Carlson,

That means your ratings are done and your PEBLO will be contacting you soon. I had the same thing happened and signed my 199 about a week after seen the same thing that you saw on ebenies. I am still waiting on my separation orders. I have been waiting for over a month, since I signed 199. Still haven't heard anything, but saw my retirement account set up in DFAS.
