Seattle Regional VA Timelines:

So I talk to my VSO. The VA will not rate me for my PTSD. The BVA has to rate that because I have a appeal going. Which my docket number should be up in 3 or 4 months. What they did was rate me for PEB purposes only. I got 50% for PTSD and 10% for my back for DOD. COmbine total of 60% dod and 0% VA. Kinda of stupid. But obviously the BVA will grant me PTSD compensation and they will go all the way back to MAY09. Sooooo now we play waiting game for 199.

Long time lurker, first time posting. Congrats to those reaching the end and thanks to all those who provide great information and advice!

I have a question. I'm at 72 days with the VA in Seattle, but my ebennies still says Gathering of Evidence, Evidence requested is past due. I'm going through the MEB from Ft. Meade. At how many days should I grow concerned and begin calling? As is, this process has been long and drawn out. I feel like when I read other peoples timelines, my beginning stages took two to three times as long to complete. I only have one unfitting condition and 13 claimed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all for your service and sacrifice.

I wouldn't start calling until at least 100 days waiting on VA rating. If you look at most peoples timelines you will see they get their ratings anywhere between 100-200 days on ratings. The gathering of Evidence in my eyes is the longest process. You got some time to wait.

Billyballs you are so right as are you MAJ71303. I never list the time my MEB vanquished at the RRC before even being sent to the MEB. Add one year to the time line and a Congressional complaint. This is a process not an event. Honestly, my patience is shot, but who do you complain to? The MSC is just a puppet for the VA and while well intentioned they have no power to effect change. The PEBLOs are overloaded and cannot keep up wth their case load and have no recourse when cases take too long or go to the bottom of the pile. The entire situation is simply unacceptable, but there is no one to tell it to.

If I treated Soldiers this way as a Senior NCO, I would have been relieved for cause. They treat me this way, and it is just me being impatient. REALLY?

Really!!? So I guess it is a good thing my crap was just at the initial stages of an appeal and not yet at the BVA. Sucks that you have to wait on the BVA but glad that the proposed DOD ratings will be enough to get you out and retire. THE BVA holdup is enough, but glad you make it to the 199 stage.

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Hmm, it depends; maybe 120 calendar days maximum in my opinion.

Indeed, unfortunately, the backlog of DoVA disability claims keep growing; therefore, DoD IDES process timelines shall definitely extend with the corresponding growth.

Out of curiosity, what does your PEBLO and/or MSC state is the average waiting time for DoVA proposed ratings coming out of the DoVA D-RAS in Seattle, WA at this point in time?

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

so, so, right, I have been in this process for years now...I was WTU status until from June 2006 to Sept 2007 and my initial MMRB/MEB/MAR2/MEB didn't start until Sept 2008....Give me one more damn year and I will have 20 good ones.

So basically I have been in this wait game 7 out of the 8 past years and my case is currently 'Under Review'...lol

If I went back and added all my dates like Warrior644, hell you would have to scroll a couple pages each time just to read each posts.

Warrior644,

My Packet went thru Seattle-

When I was just waiting for the original ratings he said it could take a year plus before getting the results back and he was correct it took 366 days to get the results(actual ratings).

When I asked my PEBLO the estimated time frame, he said anywhere from 45 days to 9 mos(No Joke)BTW this was on the appeal of ratings).

I finally had enough and went to NRMC Senior leadership to press the issue to at least give me an accurate location of my packet as the 1800 and the PEBLO gave no usable info. Within 2 weeks I was notified on ebennies that my packet was at the awaiting approval stage(?) and that I needed to submit my supporting documents(DD214).

I am happy that I now have a true target date for retirement, however I wish that they(VA) would start moving cases faster and appeals as well. We have troops at the WTB's just sitting and waiting and many are at the breaking point of saying FIDO and rolling out without the benefits they have earned.

Sad state of affairs.

Yes it's a long process for sure. Hopefully Seattle VA will get the personnel and resources to speed up the process.

I not sure the length of time of appeals in Seattle, but the Houston avg for appeals is 9 to 20 months.

Indeed, thanks for the :D since I don't do that much anymore unfortunately!

Hopefully, I shall learn how to do that once again upon my forthcoming military disability retirement!

@SGM Anaconda,

I appreciate your feedback as it's indeed a sad state of affairs unfortunately! :(

Nonetheless, good deal with remaining positively proactive to obtain sound insightful status information about your DoD IDES case file! :)

Yeah also I contacted the people who do the 199 and they told me sometimes it takes 2 weeks to get the rating.

What I did was formally request by email to my MSC to have his supervisor contact me. Then just worked my way up the chain. That got mine moving.

Ah, indeed, another good course of action; good job! ;)

So, 9 DEC 2013, I submitted my VARR for an unfit condition that was not rated.
I am still waiting on VA. Over 100 days now. I really do not understand this system at all.
I was told a VARR would only take 1 month maximum.
I guess the hurry up and wait is still not over.

Billyballs and Warrior644 - Thank you!

I got the same answer from my PEBLO that anyone gets - between 2 to 9 months. I've only ever spoken to the MSC once when I was doing my claims. My only concern with the whole thing is that Ebennies says "requested evidence past due - Development letter sent". I can just imagine that my file is lost somewhere out there and that I'm waiting in vain. Not trying to be pessimistic, but apparently that's what the IDES process does to folks...

Every stinking stage of this Med board - to include getting referred - has taken twice the amount of time as they had forecasted.

Definitely get ahold of your MSC. For all you know, he could have forgotten to submit some evidence like mine did. Cover your ass man. U never know with these bums.
