Ok I got my 199 and signed. But I'm reading on this pre transpoc checklist " transitional leave formally known as terminal leave is not authorized per AR 600-8-10 paragraph 4-21G..." They are saying I must sell back leave days and only take PTDY.. Does this sound right?
Wtf y not? That doesn't sound right at all.

Tell them to get lost

But apparently im still authorized PTDY so i guess as long as my commander signs off on that.... that will help a little i guess

If anything they will give you you leave days and not give you PTDY, that's what happened to me, since I was only moving 60 miles away from fort Bragg my BC didn't give me the 20 days but I'm glad because my VA pay is higher than my e-4 pay by 1400$$ so Im ready to retire next week so the VA can complete my ratings

Is there anything actually needed to bring to the TRANSPOC brief? Or will everything I need be provided to me there? Besides EOM LES

Warrior congrats! I've been away from the Thread for awhile. Was out of town. Seems like everyone is moving along!

Thanks, brother! :)

Pleased to hear that you returned safely from your out-of-town excursion.

Indeed, the DoVA D-RAS in Seattle WA seems to be generating IPEB findings on an accelerated pace.

Moreover, at a quick review of my IPEB findings, I will probably appeal and request a one-time DoVA reconsideration.

Thus, it's best to get it corrected now while on Active Duty, than trying to correct it later as a military veteran.

Best Wishes!

100% VA man I'd take it and run. I guess the TDRL is kind of lame. But just in case you aren't aware, DOD will cap out at 75% regardless of how high it goes. I got 80% DOD so they said with PDRL it isn't worth it to go any higher. The only thing I could have appealed was my VA but that was because its 90%, not 100% (but I would have lost that battle so I didn't do any appeal).

Just want to make sure you know about the 75% DOD cap.

so my 40 days i have will be sold at a mere 2500$....

Section XI

Task: Using Transition Leave

4–21. Rules used to request transition leave

Transition leave (formerly called terminal leave) is a chargeable leave granted together with transition from the

Service, including retirement

The unit commander or designee is the approval authority for transition leave requests.

c.
Leave will not be granted if it exceeds that accrued or to be accrued between the date of approval and date of

transition. (See para 5–15 and para 5–33 for exceptions.

Leave granted must not interfere with operational requirements, timely processing, or transition processing.
e.
Leave may be granted for Soldiers stationed overseas returning to CONUS or area of residence.

f.
Soldiers stationed in CONUS (or OCONUS) will complete processing at an authorized and directed transition

activity before beginning leave. As an exception, Soldiers retiring and requesting a location of personal choice

transition point will complete processing at a designated U.S. Army Transition Point prior to departing on leave.

The established transition date may be extended only for Soldiers pending physical disability (AR 635–40). This

allows them to use their accrued leave as transition leave, provided they cannot sell or cash in leave to the

Government.
No where in there do i see where it says you cannot take the leave you have earned....that person or whatever read the reg wrong and decided to take it upon themselves to put it on the checklist...talk to someone.
On a side note...my narsum went to ft lewis yesterday!!!

Yes, I am thoroughly aware of the DoD 75% maximum limitation for a disability rating percentage. But, I appreciate your advisory post since my memory fails at times; that's good teamwork!

In retrospect, it's my intent to keep the DoVA 100% rating since I am only one "10% rating" away from being dropped to an overall DoVA 90% rating. More specifically, your DoVA ratings are not permanent and may change unless you meet certain criteria. I remember the "20-year VA rating" criteria, and there is another criteria but I don't recall it.

Moreover, maintaining the DoVA 100% rating yields additional disability compensation for me and my family. The next step is to request via VA Form 21-8940 "Veteran's Application for Increased Compensation Based on Unemployability" if applicable upon living as a disabled military veteran.

If the VA Form 21-8940 is approved, a military veteran shall receive either the "Permanent & Total (P&T)" or "Total Disability due to Individual Unemployability (TDIU)" rating designation which can open the window for Special Monthly Compensation (SMC) eligibility.

To that extent, if a military veteran meet the qualifications for SMC, the DoVA will pay additional tax-free monthly benefits for certain qualifying serious disabilities, or if the military veterans are unemployable, housebound, bedridden, or need regular help from another person in their activities of daily living (ADL).

Thus, possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer.

Best Wishes!

I'm starting to get really antsy now. People have been getting numbers back left and right! I have my unfit dated Feb 6th, hoping to hear back with numbers in the next few weeks!!!

Mine did that right before they finished ratings. Went from gathering of evidence (where it was for months) to prep for decision... then a few hours later it went to pending decision approval...then back to prep for decision. Then I think it went to pending approval one more time (i can't remember, maybe not), and then back to "Gathering of evidence". only it said "requested separation documents"

so in reality im actually looking about 1-2 weeks max right?

My e benefits says this...Gathering of Evidence,
Status Has Changed
Evidence Requested is Past Due
Development Letter Sent

it has said this since 20 Jan.....according to the guy above me..should it say something diff by now?

The information on ebenefits is entered by the person doing your claim. Mine has been on review of evidence the whole time with evidence requested past due. Ive determined itll probably never change and maybe one day Ill get the phone call everyone else has been getting. Its looking like it should be coming soon since others from around Jan 22 and past that have gotten theirs.

LOL.. well we got like 3 ft of snow.. But you got us on the -50! I think the coldest it got this year is -19.. After the first year here you've pretty much done everything since you have to fill out a mileage form if you want to go further than 75 miles.

His stuff is going well, just waiting for his orders..
