Off subject, sorry. I didn't know quite where to post it.
Who is the approval autority for terminal leave (active Army)? I was always under the assumption that it had to be a light colonel if more than 30. If guessing mine will be around 50. The reg just says "your unit commander."
Thanks, and sorry.
No worries, it's all good!

In retrospect within the U.S. Army, transition leave (formerly called terminal leave) is a chargeable leave granted together with transition from military service, including retirement IAW AR 600-8-10.
To that extent, information received from my military Retirement Services Office which is applicable on my military installation is as follows:
1. A Commanding Officer in the rank/grade of Captain/O3 is the approval authority for transition leave requests below 30 days.
2. A Commanding Officer in the rank/grade of Colonel/O6 is the approval authority for transition leave requests above 30 days.
Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."
Best Wishes!
