I previously started the NDR-PEB process in 2023. It was a tough fight, but I ultimately got the desired result: found fit at the FPEB. The "unfitting diagnosis" that triggered it all was Major Depressive Disorder. I sought lots of treatment and several opinions. It ended up going to the FPEB in JUL2025. I was found fit and returned to duty. My providers all agreed that I the MDD had been a misdiagnosis and I was instead just dealing with a lot of traumatic life events and likely was dealing with PTSD as well. The board agreed.
In JAN2026, I logged on to do my online PHA and discovered that I still had a profile despite my attempts at getting the limitations removed or changed. The provider at the PHA had a conversation with me and determined that I did not need to be on the profile anymore and terminated it that day. In MAR2026, I was attempting to complete an AGR packet when I discovered that I had been placed back on the same profile, supposedly only 5 days after the provider terminated it in JAN. When I asked about it, I was told that the termination was in error and that they reinstated the profile. And then was told that I was being sent to a fit for duty exam.
Went to FFD and the provider that conducted said FFD is the state provider that does all of the commissioning physicals, flight physicals, etc. So not even a BH provider. Said provider would not hear me out or even take into consideration anything that I had to say. I was told "because your command is pushing so hard for this" that he was referring me to the PEB again. I explained to him that I was dealing with PTSD not MDD, been in steady treatment with providers who deem me fit and stable, and no flags or barriers to performance other than the limitations set by the profile. But it did not matter.
They are attempting to medically separate me 5 months before my ETS. And the unfitting condition is still listed as MDD. I have not elected any options yet as I am afraid my hands will be tied as soon as I elect the PEB. I need help trying to figure out how to navigate this. Office of Soldiers Counsel will not provide legal counsel until after the IPEB. I do not understand how I can be boarded yet again for a condition that the board found fit and has not affected me in any way since being found fit. I have had PTSD symptoms, but if anything, shouldn't I be being boarded for PTSD then?
I have no support from command at this time as they are the ones pushing me out. Ever since my fit findings last year, I have been given the cold shoulder and iced out.
Is there any steps that I can take to get this changed before I elect an option? Get diagnosis changed from MDD to PTSD? What I don't understand is how a general medicine provider can make a BH fitness for duty evaluation. When I argued that, I was told that the BH team makes that determination as well. But I had no conversations with anyone from that team nor did they have access to any current documentation or records from post-PEB. Its already been recommended to me that I file an IG and request an eval by a BH military provider. I am afraid they are going to deny that request.
I'm absolutely devastated, honestly. I fought so hard to stay in and was planning to reenlist. But it feels like I am being targeted and they are doing everything they can to push me out.
