Seeking Advice to Expedite Claim

Hello all,

This may be a long shot but I’m desperate for help. Currently going through an MEB and all we’re waiting on is the VA to get back with my rating.

My grandparents are terminally ill and I desperately need to get home to them. I called the VA and asked if there was any way to expedite the process and they told me to fill out a request form, but my situation isn’t listed as a reason to expedite.

Is there any other possible way to get a rating back faster? I started it on 7/23/24 for reference.

No way to move it quicker. However, you can be given an exception to be approved for leave. Talk to your PEBLO and your commander. As long as they are okay with it you can submit a request for leave. They will typically require that you are available to reached by phone and email since the process doesn't stop meaning you could be on leave and they would need to call you that your NARSUM is completed and they need you to check your email to review it and concur, appeal and or request IMR as an example.
