I got my orders today and looking over my DD-214. For separation code it shows NBD, which when I look it up says for service time. Is there a specific code that should be there for medical retirement or pdrl? I know it seems trivial if over 20, but want to make sure that I'm not missing somewhere else that says it's because of Ch.61.
Are you sure you weren’t found unfit but your paperwork might mention anything or something along the lines of being presumed fit for retirement?
I don’t think you are going to have any issue with pay or anything at all as you are capped in length of service pay and you have over 20 active. You aren’t missing out on a higher DOD percentage retirement because of the code as pay will always default back to your 20 plus years of service for calculation purposes.
For instance I was over 20 but I wasn’t not found presumed fit for retirement. I am no longer TDRL but my pay is always based on 52.5 percent versus the 70 percent medical retirement percentage.
You should look into CRSC if your pension is getting taxed. But if it’s not then there isn’t a real benefit other than CRSC is protected from being divided in a divorce.

As I understand it, the portion that would be from ch.61 is also protected from divorce. It's the reason I'm trying to figure this out really. I didn't see in any paperwork that said unfit, but fit for retirement.

If it were me… and I’ve been in a similar spot… wait until you get your pension and VA comp. Once your pension information populates on DFAS you will know what you were retired under.. if tax free you are good to go. If they are taking taxes from your pension… you have 2 options…
1. Get your DD214 corrected… probably a nightmare as the Navy has traditionally sucked at retiring and or separating members correctly.
