I am about to sign and submit my 1180 and it's asking for a requested separation date. How did everyone choose what date to separate? I am assuming you can't pick a date a year from now, but the question is so general and that I could pick any date I want. Confused...

I wasn't given that option! They just randomly gave me July 28th, which works out perfectly for me. Whatever day you do choose just make sure its not on the last day of the month! Otherwise you will end up having to skip a month of VA compensation.

How many days of leave do you have? Congrats on your retirement!
I have around 58 days after I finish taking these 19 days I am currently on. I told them that I will be selling everything back so I didn't need time to take terminal leave.

Thank you! And no its just the date that I am officially retired. I told them that I will continue to ponder about taking terminal leave, but I will most likely sell it back.
