Army Medical Discharge for Plantar Fasciits?

I developed a bad case of Plantar Fasciitis that I have been dealing with for over two years now. Prior to deploying to Iraq, I had the "release surgery" where 50% of my tendon was cut. My command gave me all the time that I needed to get my feet healthy again. I started running in January again. I am still having the same degree of pain that I did pre-surgery. I have tried all conservative methods that the military docs, PA's and civilian docs could throw at me. I recently went to talk to the our doc (an actual MD, not a PA) and she gave me a P2 profile and told me that once I get back state-side then I should get a permanent profile (no APFT run / run at own pace). She also advised that if I do decide to run then I risk rupturing the fascia tendon which would lead to bigger problems. Anyone who has ever dealt with plantar fasciitis and been in the military I am sure would be able to relate as to how frustrating this can be. Has anyone been (or known anyone) medically discharged for this diagnosis? I have read AR 40-501 and I do have a qualifying condition for a MEB but we all know how the Army likes to re-class, re-train, throw a profile and motrin at you, and tell you to do push-ups and drink water to get better. I have a wife and kids to think about. I am just really starting to question my ability to "be all that I can be." Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, are there any resources online, such as a MED Board Advocate Office, that reaches out to soldiers in need?

I am through a Med board but its mainly for my left knee and bilateral flat falt with secordary to Plantar Fasciitis (biliteral). I had my VA exam last month but its going to be awhile before they send my packet off.

I am sorry to hear about your condition, I know how painfull it is, I had it. My doc tried oral steroids with cortizone injections and foot splits, work on one foot but not the other. Needless to say orthotic inserts took care if it so easily, and yet my insurance didn't want to pay 400 for them, but paid 1200 for the shots. I went to the VA and they charged $50, my copay at the other doctor wasd 30.

I can relate I am currently deployed to Iraq and finally after 9 months of having foot pain was diagnosed with a severe case of Plantar fascitis. I am stilling being jerked around with profiles and steroid drugs/anti-inflammatory. The profiles they give me limit from everything except wearing body armor and my chain of command is getting upset with me for the doctors profile. My job requires lifting which I can not do so I have became a paper pusher and the last couple days I think I am becoming immune to the drugs that I am currently on because the pain is coming back. I have got all the paperwork together for my LOD but still sitting in country waiting for this deployment to end so I can get some kind of care that will help me.

I have been found unfit do to BL Chronic Plantar fasciitis and back and other foot deficiencies it is however a very long process but if you continue to have trouble and are willing to be medically discharged I would talk to the physicians so they can put in a recommendation for you to began the MMB process.
