SEV Pay

I was placed on TDRL and was medically retired from the Air Force, rated 30% USAF/90%VA. When I was getting out, I had called DFAS and put through a ticket with them to opt out of SEV pay, so that way it wouldn’t affect my va benefits. Two years later, I see my SEV pay hit and was really confused. I immediately called and they said that it was put in a queue but then it was lost. I am not getting anything taken out of my payments yet, but I did contact the VA and they are telling me to set aside money I think is overdue. How do I get help with this?? This is ultimately their fault and now i’m stuck in the middle of thousands of dollars that they did not account for.

How can you get Severance pay if 30%? when going from TDRL to PDRL was it lowered to 20%? Also, why not receive severance? Its possible to receive your full VA pay and not have the severance recouped. If you can hit 100% VA without needing the unfitting conditions ratings you get all of your severance and don't have to pay any of it back. So even if they start recoupment it could later stop if you can reach 100% without that condition.
