I am looking for someone who got ratings for their shoulder. I am being disqualified from the Army due to Mild Supraaspinatus Tendinopathy w/ Rim Rent Tear at Humeral Insertion & Mild AC Joint Osteoarthropathy (Arthritis).

I received 20% for my right shoulder. It was based off on ROM only.

Also have the other shoulder checked (bilateral factor). Also if it is your dominant arm ensure that it noted in the NARSUM. It makes a difference with the VA.

Well this is my dominant arm and I only have full ROM in 2 of the 4 ROM's.

Sorry to included that this was also my dominant arm.

Well I was figuring to be 20%. I am still hoping for 30%.

I have had Soldier's with ortho problems that have gotten worse due to the lentgh of the process. IF your shoulder(s) do get worse, ensure it is DOCUMENTED. Then get with counsel(SJA, ETC) and appeal.

Well my shoulder isn't getting worse, but it isn't getting any better either.

So it looks like a severance pay for me.

Do you have any other conditions found to be unfit by your branch of service?

If not, and your only unfit condition is your shoulder and, if that shoulder issue is rated by ROM (IAW the VASRD), then it's quite likely you could be severance paid out.

Have you looked at the VASRD ratings for your shoulder?

I had four surgeries on my right arm (three on my right A/C joint) and I only got 10% for "Malunion of the Joint", but 80% total. I am battling the BCNR right now because my right subclavicular nerve (rated at 20%) was considered directly connected to my right shoulder pain, but the VA messed up and stated that it was connected in my "proposed rating" and not in my final rating that was used by the PEB (who keep in mind recommeded retirement). Together they would rate at 30% and a retirement rather than a separation, which I got back in July. I sent my paperwork to the BCNR in Sept. and they said it takes about 6 months to complete.

My advice to anyone going through this: Make sure your NARSUM is totally accurate with every unfitting condition and the QTC physical doc is EXTREMELY accurate...

My only disqualifying condition for the Army is my shoulder. I will check the VASRD. But what section of the VASRD?

Maybe maparker would know if this is based on arthritis, ROM or something. Does your NARSUM issue have a code number on it? The code number is another way to find out what rating criteria will be used as the code number corresponds to the name of the diagnosis that will be used for the rating.

Go look and see what your code number is and then look at the VASRD.

There is no code number on my NARSUM.

Time to ask maparker, Jason, or other knowledgable members. I'm out of clues now.

Oh. I made an error in one of my above postings. I rec'd 30% for my shoulder due to ROM. I got 20% for my neck (ROM), so I told you the wrong thing. Sorry. I got 30% for shoulder issue based on ROM - dominate shoulder - just one shoulder only.

That is awesome. If I receive 30%, I will be so excited.

My question for the day is: Once the PEB sends the Prelims to the VA, then the VA does their Prelims. When the VA sends their stuff back to the PEB, are those the finalized ratings before they are transcribed onto the 199? I understand that when the VA sends their stuff back to the PEB, that it gets loaded up into the ePEB. I am wondering if I am allowed to view the stuff in ePEB with my PEBLO before it gets typed up.
