My husband is going through the MEB process and we are just trying to get an idea of how things are going to go. His packet is at the PEB at Ft Lewis and has been since August 1 2012. They told us to expect it to take about 60-90 days. We are right around the 60 day mark and just trying to get a feel of how things are going to go. Here are his ROM from his C&P exams:
Walks at a 30* forward flexed position
Forward Flexion 0-60*
Extension 0*
(R) Lateral Flexion 0-15*
(L) Lateral Flexion 0-15*
(R) Lateral Rotation 0-15*
(L) Lateral Rotation 0-15*
Also noted by the DR was there was a funtional loss due to pain, weakness, and lack of endurance with a loss of 5* of all ROM due to pain after repetitive use x3

Just wondering if anyone would have any input on what to expect, such as fit or unfit and what ratings may look like? Any info you have would be greatly appreciated. We are waiting on pins and needles.

Check your Ebenefits for a rating. Mine was sent to the PEB 31 August, I saw on my Ebenefits before my PEBLO notified me that it was in the rating phase on about 12 Sept. Not a long process at all.

Thank you....
Do you mind me asking where your packet is at? His is at Ft Lewis, and he has been checking his Ebenefits but it doesnt seem to be changing. He called his PEBLO and all he said was it was being reviewed. Its so frustrating

Fort Knox. Just keep bugging them

I guess I am also looking to see if anyone has idea/opinion whether this will render him fit or unfit and if unfit what ratings may look like? We are just trying to get an idea of what is to come. Thanks!

AR 40-501 CHAPT 3 is for the fit or unfit limits for various conditions for Soldiers. If he falls outside the the fit parameters in these regulations for a specific condition, then it is very likely the Army will find him unfit for further military service for that particular condition.

The VASRD is the Federal VA regulations that are used to establish the % of disability rating. In your husband's case, his % of disability will be given a rating based mostly on Range of Motion (ROM) - or lack thereof. Veteran Administration Schedule of Rating Disability I think is what VASRD stands for. You can get it on va.gov website and look for section that lists all the back conditions. The back is broken up into three segments - neck (cervical), mid back (thoracic), and lower back (lumbar).

The AR and the VASRD are a couple of things you should be familiar with. The AR will help you get some idea of whether or not his condition(s) meet the Army fit/unfit criteria. The VASRD will help you with the % of disability rating.

This is the big sketch, but as you know, the devil is in the details.

Keep us posted!
