Summary of Benefits??

I understand that I may be ahead of the process a little bit but I seen in E-Benefits that my case was closed as of yesterday. This morning I checked again and was able to download a summary of benefits letter that stated the following under the VA Benefit Information:

You have one or more service-connected disabilities: YES
Your combined service-connected evaluation is: 90%
Your current monthly award amount is: $1962.34

Is this just a template letter or is this the rating decision?

I called the VA, who informed me that they were not able to discuss the finding over the phone due to privacy issues and my PEBLO is not working today.

Also, I have been checking the progress of my MEB thru AKO. Last week, I was in the VA Rating portion and today I am in the benefits portion which is the last phase. This bypassed several phases such as the appeal, and IPEB as well.

Would this be because I was rated over the 30% threshold for medical retirement?

I have 29 years total service and 16 years active.

That letter and several other formats that can be download do show your current award. I was able to see that long before I got the final award letter from the VA in the US mail. If you look it will also so the date of the current award.

It shows only the DVA award NOT the DoD award... the DVA rates more things then the DoD.

I have also received on the same day a letter to "establish your veterans preference for civil service employment."

It states in the letter:

"that you are separated under honorable conditions from active duty military service and that you are entitled to compensations for service-connected disabilities which are least 30 percent or more disabling."

Don't know the final percentage of the DOD rating but looks to be in excess of 30% from what I can see.

Good news! Hope you break the 30% with DoD!

i am in the same boat! My ratings have been completed since 5 Sept at that time my Ebenefits moved to to the end. I even received an automated notificaiton stating that i completed all the steps ( I just wish it was true):

"THIS IS AN AUTOMATED NOTIFICATION FROM THE CMS SYSTEM. DO NOT REPLY.

You are receiving this email as confirmation that you have successfully completed all phases of the IDES process and should receive your well deserved benefits shortly."

I am still waiting on my 199. It has been 43 days and counting.

Thanks, Light at the end of this long tunnel. I am glad the light didn't burn out before I got there.

My PEBLO called me this morning to let me know that she was working on my 199.

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Indeed, congratulations! :D

As such, upon official receipt of your IPEB findings inclusive of DoD and DoVA proposed ratings, please thoroughly review DA Form 199 with the assistance of the SMEBC to ensure that your best interests are still on point while in the DoD IDES process. Take care and enjoy life!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Need advise on best course of action.

I received my DOD rating and was rated 30% for PTSD. I should have also been rated 40% on my Lumbar Spine DDD also.

The issue is that they based the rating off of my original DA Form 3947. I had my DA Form 3947 revised in March 2014 to include an unfitting condition on my lumbar spine DDD.

I have to appeal but the JAG wants me to supply documentation to him on my lower back to appeal. He seems to think that since they used the original DA 3947 that I have to appeal to have my Back added to the DA 3947.

I feel that I have already made the case and was found unfit by DOD and it is just an administrative error by looking at the wrong DA 3947.

Do I really have to make a case again on this appeal or simply appeal to have them use the revised DA 3947 for my DOD Rating?

Hmm, it would seem to me that a FPEB hearing is definitely the appropriate "official" course of action then "simply appeal to have them use the revised DA 3947 for my DOD Rating" which the IPEB is more than capable to rectify the administrative error at this point.

As such, IPEB has an opportunity to review their initial findings with any submitted new medical evidence and/or medical documentation then make another informed decision. Otherwise, I suggest going to the FPEB hearing to potentially rectify the administrative "oversight" or error at this point in time.

Bottom line is to get the administrative "oversight" or error issue correct NOW versus later as a military disabled veteran in my direct opinion! Take care, continue to get well, and most importantly enjoy life!
