Its been awhile since I posted here. I was put on TDRL in October 2012 for Nephritis (Chronic Kidney Disease) which was rated at 80% by the DOD and my overall VA rating was 90%. I just had my first TDRL evaluation a few months ago. I received my decision today which stated that I am UNFIT and am to be separated with severance pay from TDRL. They decreased my rating to 0%.
I am extremely disappointed by this decision. I know the Rating Schedule very well because of my current job at the VBA as a Rating Specialist. Just by looking at my labwork alone I should be at least 60% based off my creatinine at 1.7 and GFR at 39 (kidney function levels). I am still rated at 80% for my kidneys at the VA and recently was granted 100% permanent and total for my combined disabilities.
I already know I will not accept their decision to decrease my DOD rating to 0% and medically separate me.
My question is how should I prepare for the reconsideration and potential follow-on Formal Board? What kinds of things do I need to do to change their decision from 0% medsep to 60-80% PDRL? I lost half my kidney function while on active duty so I just don't understand how that would equate to 0%.
Any help would be appreciated.
