I 100% promise you that your call to your Congressman didn't make the VA move faster. Just getting the information from your call, over to the VA, takes several days. No way they would have done it overnight, and then processed your package same day. Just not how it works.

I'm not saying don't contact your congressman. I'm just saying, have realistic expectations.

The Va did for mine but I was also already waiting two months before I called

I don't doubt that you got your VA ratings back the day after you called the congressman. What I am saying is that was a happy coincidence.

I don’t have any relevant experience with the VA and congressional inquiry but it most definitely helped with DFAS when they completely messed up my final pay when I retired. It was the only thing that got them to fix it and it happened very quickly.

Maybe but dras called me on the phone personally from Rhode Island and said they are doing right away and they are sorry about the wait Va is trying to catch up they are just so far behind who knows could be luck of the draw but it helped for sure

Just to add to the remarks I quoted:

There are times when contacting a Representative or a Senator is warranted. However, taking that action should not be a routine part of the overall process.

I agree that the office of whomever is called does not take action within hours after a complaint or request is submitted.

I am reminded of my experience as the NCOIC (SSG), Travel Pay Section at Fort Sam Houston in the 1970s. We received many calls about “When will I get paid?” for travel claims we had yet to receive. Our customers included MEPS, recruiters, and others distant from Fort Sam. In other words, many claims were received through the mail. Same in Heidelberg Germany in the late 1980s when I was a SGM. One of my sections processed all the travel claims of DOD-employees (teachers) throughout Europe.

Finally, there are occasions where nothing seems to work other than calling an elected official.

Agreed I only reached out cause they took way to long when they told me it was done and I received nothing also do you know off hand how long it takes to get the separation orders?

The only way to go to the head of the line is to skip over those who have been waiting longer.

i signed my findings jun 2 2023 how long does the separation message take to receive and orders. my status in nsips says modification already.
