Long time lurker since starting this process. Here's my timeline so far:

Referred condition: Chronic/Idiopathic Urticaria (Xolair + antihistamines) + Allergic contact dermatitis
Referred to MEB: 5MAR23
C&P Exams completed: 15MAY23
Case sent up to PEB: 20JUN23
VA exams sent to PEB: 28AUG23

I was told "any day now" to receive my findings, but was advised that I would likely be found unfit. Trying my best to not let my anxiety get the best of me, as I'm told the turnaround after findings acceptance is about 5 weeks from the date of separation, and have been trying to make sure I have employment lined up for when I *potentially* am separated/retired.

Can anyone weigh on the likelihood of separation or retirement? And what y'all found was best to get through this waiting period???
Thanks all.

I was lucky to get a temporary armory job that I’m allowed to do till my separation so it helps time fly by instead of waiting around. My case was sent to PEB AUG 2 I didn’t get my findings for about 8 weeks on SEP 14. That was how long it took for me so I hope it gives you a good idea. I’m USMC but USN is the same process when it comes to the DOD and VA ratings side.

I’m in a full working status at my command, but they’re trying to assign me new taskers/projects and don’t want to commit if I’m going to be out soon. Just sitting in a limbo status driving myself crazy lol

On the Navy side, I was referred to the PEB on 2 June and my VA findings were sent to the PEB 7 AUG. My IDES Legal said I was found unfit, but still in the boat of waiting for findings to officially come in. I think it’ll hopefully be in the next few weeks.

If your case was submitted to the VA you're more than likely unfit for duty. To my understanding, if you weren't, they'd have notified you and they wouldn't waste their time giving you a disability rating you won't have applicable to you.

It's a very frustrating process at times. My VA case was closed and submitted my information to the PEB on 17 Aug. It seems like this is the holdup currently. The VA, ironically, has been rather quick and the DOD has been the one slowing the process down. My guess, they like to keep their disability % much lower than the VA, but that's just speculation tbh. Idk all that goes into their ratings, and the VA is much more open on their criteria imo.

Like Ryanc284, I am currently waiting for the DOD results and the presentation of my entire case.

I've developed awful anxiety and OCD while, so I can relate to how you find it annoying that the USN/USMC are awful at communicating basic information about each individual's case. It makes preparing for life and exiting the service extremely difficult. It's basically a guessing game if were honest.

Best advice is to practice some sort of mindfulness. Keep in mind that this is really the last time you won't have any control over your life. As frustrating as it is, try to focus on the good. You still have a chance to put money back while waiting.

While it's annoying you can't really plan anything, just keep in mind that you'll be out soon and won't have the severity of these issues again. Thats what helps me.

Also long time lurker here.

Curious about how long you were treated before you were referred for a MEB? I have been treated for Chronic Urticaria for 3 years, 3 versions of low to high dose Antihistamines and now on Xolair.

Did your allergist refer you or your PCM?

So I've been on Xolair for about a year, and was put on Xolair only 3 months after antihistamines were ineffective. My allergist is the one who referred me to the MEB.

Hey, thanks for the advice, it truly is frustrating but looking forward to making some decisions for myself soon. I was able to receive a copy of my benefits estimate letter from the VA (after multiple weeks of calling and trying to get lucky), so I'll know what to expect on that end.

It can beyond frustrating at times, everyone here can agree to that. Especially w/ the upcoming shut down and the way certain and various ways PEBLOs discuss and distribute information.

We're lucky to have a group like this w/ people who are willing to share this situation and insight. It's a great group, honestly. I think you and i are around the same spot of the process, but it'll be over soon. My case was sent to the PEB on 17 Aug from the VA. From the sound of it, it sounds like most people have been getting their findings around 1.5-2 months after the VA forwards it, so if the government doesn't shut down it should be in OCT when we learn about the

Your base should have a VA rep or office on it. Try to make time to discuss everything w/ them, they're extremely knowledgeable

For anyone curious, I've finally received my findings, and accepted them. Here's an updated timeline so far:

Referred condition: Chronic/Idiopathic Urticaria (Xolair + antihistamines) + Allergic contact dermatitis
Referred to MEB: 5MAR23
C&P Exams completed: 15MAY23
Case sent up to PEB: 20JUN23
VA exams sent to PEB: 28AUG23
Receipt of Findings: 10OCT23
Acceptance of Findings: 11OCT23

Congrats, man! Great news to hear!

Any word on the turn around for your separation date?

Glad to hear it's working out for you!

No word yet, but my PEBLO indicated it could take 3-5 weeks to process for separation orders. So I won't be holding my breath lol

I’m currently waiting to her from the DOD my proposed VA was sent out to me threw email Oct 18th so I’m just waiting on DOD side now anyone have any estimates or anything? I’m Active duty USMC

@Stephhlovesyou also if you are rated less than 30% DOD wise you will be given severance pay which you will receive 2 weeks after your final EAS date you can find the amount in my pay on latest pay information make sure you register an account before you lose CAC access.

@Blowjanglez my VA claim from IDES was officially submitted on November 16th and it was finished on November 30th very quick turnaround. I was awarded 100% P&T! Has your claim been submitted through yet?

FYI the severance pay can take longer to receive. My friend did not get his until about 60 days after

Soo i have something similar i developed severe asthma and atopic dermatitis from the ship and i was given xolair shot i take the twice in both arms every 2 weeks to control allergens and my asthma ontop of many other things i was sent limdu march 2023 did all my exams in a week of june by October all my paperwork came back 70% dod and 80% va not sure how that works but yeah and i was told
Unfit and permanent disabled from active duty. You touch over 30% your gunna be in my situation and from what my doc said xolaor is medically grouped with cancer patients medicines and wont allow members to stay in the military. So yeah now i been waiting to be separated since then not sure why but yeah its already almost January lol and the dod took the longest to get my percentage back due to service connection its looked into so they can make sure you have no prior history medically
