Timeline?

I was just put on my med board after 2 LIMDU periods. I have 3 VA C&P Exams scheduled for next week. What I'm confused about is all the terms on the timeline I was given by the PEBLO. I wish it was in layman's terms. So what I'm wondering is how long is it usually to get my findings after completing all the VA exams? According to the timeline it's 80 days but I may be mistaken. I have 2 referring conditions and 5 other conditions I claimed with the VA if that helps.

It really depends on a lot of different variables. For myself, I got my unfit finding about 2.5 months after it was sent up to the PEB. A lot of other people have waiting a full 3 months, but some less. I have met quite a few people on the same timeline as myself, both a little ahead and behind me, and we always communicate where we are on the forums.

Alright. So let me get this right. I will do the C&P Exams, the NARSUM will be written THEN when I sign the NARSUM that's me sending my board to the PEB?

adubz33, correct! so from that point the PEB will decide fit/unfit. If fit it's a quick turnaround as the process pretty much stops and you are notified. If Unfit PEB will send a request to DRAS (VA's IDES team) to rate all of your conditions.
those seem to only take a couple weeks. DRAS sends those proposed ratings back to PEB and they finish it up. This seems to be the slowest and most inconsistent step for us. Some of us receive our ratings from PEB (via the PEBLO) quick and others wait several months.

Awesome. The process has been VERY quick for me so far. This is my second week being on MED Board and I already have my C&P Exams scheduled for next week. I'm hoping this expedition continues throughout the remainder of the process.

Same here.. Have to admit, the VA seems to do a good job at getting the exams setup for us. That part of the process seems to work well.

I just met with the VA rep yesterday at Balboa. He said I should be getting a call today or Monday to schedule my appointments with the VA. @adubz33 was the MEB brief DTAP? From what I have heard from others here is that once the MEB goes to the PEB, the PEB makes their decision if you are fit or unfit in 15 business days. So - the quicker you get all of your appointments with the VA completed, the quicker your MEB will go off. If you are found fit, you get the results back usually right away - at least that is what I have gathered from people on the forum.

Rahollow, yes the brief I'm talking about is DTAP. It took about an hour for us, nobody asked any questions because it was during our lunch -_-.

Wow only an hour? DTAP was an entire day here at Balboa. You and I seem to be on the same timeline. I have all of my apts scheduled with the VA, the last one being April 7. From what my PEBLO told me, once I finish at the VA it takes about 10 days for them to send there findings over. Then the DR that put you in for the MEB will see the info from the VA and they will write the NAVSUM. Once the NAVSUM is done, as long at the PEBLO has the NMA as well, they will let you know and then you go and read everything and if you agree with it all it gets sent to the PEB. I was told that the PEB, once they have your MEB, has 10-15 business days to decide if you are fit or unfit. I hope that is the case and I can find out by the end of May if I am fit or unfit.

Yeah, our timelines are almost identical lol. Since being on LIMDU and now on MED BOARD I've met a lot of people that have gone through the process here. Their outcomes have all been good, I haven't seen anyone get screwed over yet but I have definitely heard stories and rumors about it happening. All 4 of my VA appointments are this week, last one being on Thursday. I am SO anxiously waiting to sign my med board off. The sooner, the better. I'm thinking they will find me unfit. I just want to know my ratings and pick my separation date already.

I am right there with you @adubz33! I just want to know if they are going to find me fit or unfit so that way I can start planning. I just have to make sure I don't miss any of the VA appointments and once I have completed all of them, making sure I stay connected with the PEBLO. Since my last appointment is 7 APR I am hoping that my packet will be going to the PEB late APR and then I would get results of fit or unfit by end of MAY.

I'm just SO ready to find out if I will be a Civilian Select already. I'd like to apply at college and stuff for the fall. Just getting everything started like you mentioned. I hope that it's not just going by quickly right now to slow down when I'm waiting for the ratings and stuff. Like, I hope it keeps this pace. Thursday is my last exam so I'm hoping they hurry up with the NARSUM and write it up already so I can sign it. I've heard that my PCM is one of the fast ones so that's good. I'm just scared my PCM will see the results from the exams and make everything sound less severe than it is. I just don't want him to screw me over. Once I read and sign my board I will be able to relax.

I am hoping for the same thing. I guess it depends on what your presenting condition is. I've seen some people's timelines on here that from the moment they started their MEB until they are out of the Navy was a total of 6 months! Then I have read the horror stories of people going on 200+ days. If you don't mind me asking, what were you put on the MEB for?

Mine started 11 Aug 2015. I'm at 218 days and have not received proposed ratings from the PEB yet. The goal set for my stage is 220 days total, however that is supposed to included time for appeals and determinations. I'm definitely outside the box now at this point. There are several others tracking right along with me as well on the same timeline and PEB looks to be the bottleneck. I had my MEB completed quickly as well as VA exams. When PEB sent for ratings from DRAS (VA) they quickly had them back to PEB in about two weeks.
For most of the process things went quick but only to be held up at PEB itself. Personally I'm not sweating it, got to keep the bright side in focus. For every month I'm still here my high three increases, every 1st and 15th the ATM has cash for me, shoot.. Free internet at the office too :)
Got to admit it has been a real challenge not to completely drop my pack and try to stay productive. I don't want to start a project I won't be around finish either. Marking time on duty has made it the worst. I figure if I was in a "home awaiting orders" status that would make a world of difference. To bad, since IDES implementation, commands (at least in the Marine Corps) won't use HAO.

I'm sorry you've had to wait so long @CWOUSMC! I've also known people that have had quite the hold up when it came to waiting for ratings. On the other hand, I've known some to come back quickly as well. For me, I met with my PEBLO Jan 6th, the VA MSC Jan 7th and my VA C&P exams were all the following week. My NARSUM was completed quickly, so I signed my package and it went off January 28th. So less than a month to complete our end of it locally. Since then I haven't heard anything, but I'm assuming by now I'm unfit, or I think I would've heard otherwise. I've seen some people in the forum who have been notified when they've been found unfit, but others who haven't heard anything and I seem to be one of them. But I did call the VA MSC and he said that my package was with the VA, so that's a pretty good indicator that they're assigning ratings now and I've been found unfit. I'm also doing mine through Balboa @rahollow, so I'm curious to see how both of ours progress over the next couple months.

I just got my last appointment scheduled, the audiology one, and the earliest they have is 12 April 16. Hopefully everything will come back quickly from the VA and then my Dr. does not take long writing the NAVSUM. I am still hopeful to get my package out late April. I actually have my first appointment today at the VA. @CoRaCa512 I am hoping we will continue to move smoothly. From the VA MSC, he said that if you are found fit they usually let you know right away, he said usually 10-15 business days after the PEB gets your package. So for you I would think by now they would have notified you if you were fit. Keep us updated! :)

@CoRaCa512, I think you're correct to assume if the VA has it to work then the determination of unfit was made.
I did see a document at some point that explained if a member was found fit that the VA was notified but the process stopped moving forward.

if you call the VA and ask if the PEB has sent them the unfit determination letter requesting for proposed ratings; that will be a good determination that you are found unfit.

@rahollow I will, thank you! Keep us posted as well. @CWOUSMC, my fingers are crossed that things are moving along normally. I checked with the PEBLO office as well and they said my package was with the VA. But that's about all I could get out of anyone. But that seems to be par for the course, so I am not too worried. The VA MSC said the VA got my package around the beginning of Feb, so if that was the case, the PEB made the "fit/unfit" decision rather quickly. My eBenefits hasn't really posted any updates. My fingers are crossed for us all that things continue to go well!

Do you by chance have the number you contacted? I'll try that, thanks!
