So mine showed evidence gathering the entire time right up until they closed it, I called them to ask and they said it had actually been in the decision phase for a month but the website never updated. I would just give them a call and ask for an update.I was checking my claim on va.gov and I saw this on the website. It still says my compensation claims are still in the evidence gathering step, but this “correspondence claim” is closed. Can anyone explain to me what this means?
I called the VA this morning to get clarification on that correspondence claim being closed. They told me that they have no record of any claim like that in my records at all. Army here but assume it's similar. With the VA, it's a crapshoot, they'll either tell you they can't do anything for you or immediately help you. So I was told that when they close one and then keep one open that's because you're not a veteran yet. The open one will close once you're out. The Closed one is your ratings, so the "7-10 business days" is them sending their ratings to the PEB (or AF equivalent) that will give you a DoD rating and your 199. You probably won't be sent your ratings, they even confirmed my address and told me they had sent them, it's all a confused process. But they should have your VA ratings at least, in 10 business days, if you haven't heard anything from your PEBLO, just call the VA's main line and then act confused and let them know it's been 10 business days. If it doesn't work the first time try a few more times. They told me my rating over the phone after the 4th try. Thank you, that’s a lot of good info you provided! A lot of it I never knew beforehand. I’ll wait the 10 business days and hopefully I’ll hear from my PEBLO during that period. So I got my 199 12 days after my VA.gov status changed. Once again, not sure how it works in AF, but that seems on target the Army forums. In light of appealing the decision that comes from the IPEB, can you also request for the VA to "redo" the C&P exams? A lot of my range of motion measurements seem inaccurate due to not even being able to complete them due to pain. Also I have in my military medical records a CT scan confirming disc bulges, spondylosis, forminal narrowing, with only estimated ROM measurements and all it says is thoracic back strain, and lumbosacral strain. This is on top of a mysterious musculoskeletal injury in my groin and hip that has left me with the inability to walk unless I use a cane.

As of to date 0 feedback from anything.
PEBLO says the IPEB is waiting on the VA ratings.
MSC confirmed my file has been with the VA since 11 July for ratings.
PEBLO said everything should have been done last week and I should be on terminal by now.
So far, I cannot find anyone willing to engage with the VA to see what the hold up in since they have had my file for 58 days now without completing any of my ratings. The only response I get is we don't know..
At what point do I reach out to Congress to get this pushed. Keep in mind the surgery earlier this year did not resolve the pain, and I currently do not have any course of treatment because the only thing that works is opioids which no one will prescribe.

So they literally rated the effects, but not the cause. My mental health stuff was rated 70 by the VA which is a lot higher than 0 for the physical issue, so the PEBLO said it might be worth going to the FPEB.0%? Oh wow. Do you plan to appeal the rating?
However the VA rating gets me health insurance for the family and I already have a job waiting for me that pays more than the military was so it's coming down to a pride thing.
If you have been seeing MH for a year or so that alone should give you at least something. I got 60% from the DoD and the MH side of that was 50% alone, similar situation. Mental health issues caused by a physical injury. The big decision is to accept the severance pay knowing it will delay my VA pay. However I'm moving to a new state with a job that will pay well so the severance pay will be nice for a new house0%... I believe i read on these forums from a moderstor that if you exclude your disqualifying conditions and are still rated at 100% (100% rating without factoring in your dbq conditions) then you do not have to "pay back" your severance.
Please don't take my word on that and find out for yourself. But if I'm right atleast that might make you feel better

So from my what PEBLO told me is they use to garnish all of your disability until it's paid off, but supposedly it's changed and now they take a % every month. Don't sure the accuracy of this but that's what they told me during my MEB orientation back in June.

I am taking my severance pay which is approx. $140K. My unfit condition that is separating me was rated at 0 by the VA. However the VA has rated me at 100% disabled.
What does this mean?
This means that I do NOT have to pay back a single red cent of the severance pay because the Air Force is not paying me for a condition that the VA is going to pay me for. The ODC has 100% confirmed this
