I just got my IPEB results back and am pleased, I got 60% DOD (lower lumbar and bilateral radiculopathy) and 90% VA. A lot of info on the web is generic, regurgitated points with no real specific information. My main question is what type of Tricare am I eligible for? My PEBLO just said I'm eligible for it, but honestly Tricare Retired Reserve is NOT cheap... We are on Tricare Reserve Select right now, and it's great, but jumping to TRR will eat up a lot of my retirement benefits for our family (about 1/3 of my benefits, according to my calculations).
One page I read looked like I could possibly qualify for Tricare Select, but I can't be sure, NONE of the options actually state "Reserve or Guard medically retired" and every site only says "retired guard or reserve". Should I consider that the same as medically retired for this? I'd call Tricare to discuss, but I'd sit on hold for an hour before I get anyone on the line.
Thanks in advance.
