Ulcerative Colitis

Is there any other AF members out there currenlty going through IPEB or have recently got results back for UC? I was just wondering if there is some standard that this condition goes by when it comes to the seperation/retainment decision.

Yes, I have Colitis and my IPEB came back with "discharge with severance pay" and 10% disability. I found out on the 12th of July. I am at HIckam AFB and have been in for almost 5 years. I am appealing and flying to Texas to hopefully change this so I can stay in.

It was submitted in march of 2010. I am also ACFT MX(APG). I am trying to stay in and not get out. How bout you?

mine was submitted in may, i'm acft maint as well, hydro, i've been in for 7 years and really don't want to fight this for the rest of my time in (i guess they re-MEB every 18 months with a condition like this) besides if it gets worse then i figure seperation would happen eventually so if it happens now i won't fight it. besides i have two other things on my meb as well (hypertension, bad joints as a result of the UC) so i'm preparing for this to go the seperation route as a lot of these UC and Chrones cases go.

Well I didn't know what they re-do it every 18 months. That kinda blows. I want to stay in so I can go guard or reserve in 2.5 years when my time is up to keep my retirement and buy cheap health insurance if I get out from tricare. I have been in remission for a while so there is no way they will give me 30% unless I have another flare up which I def don't want. Luckily I'm in the MOC right now so my physical stress isn't as bad as on the line whch I'm pretty sure caused my Colitis in the first place. I will keep you informed of how my situation goes and I would like it if you keep me informed also. Good luck and if you PM me I will give you my e-mail so we can stay in contact through the process.

I've had some form of colitis for the past 3.5 years. Just recently they decided to reinitiate an MEB. The "fast track" was denied and refered to a full MEB. To make things more interesting I was supposed to attend OTS this fall. Good times. Have you guys heard anything about the appeal process?

I just got a discharge with 10% disability. From reading the forums, this is pretty standard.

I hope i'm not too late to this thread to get a response. I was initially diagnosed with ulcerated proctitis in 00 before i ever came in. They gave me medicine it went away...i didn't think it was any kind of a problem. I entered active duty 02 and didn't have a problem again until 04 when i had another colonoscopy bc i was showing some mild symptoms. This time they said it was ulcerated colitis. Nothing was ever done at that point. I have since re-trained into Contracting(2005), deployed twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan. I was at my pdhra and told the doc that i was having some mild symptoms again. She made me see my PCM and dude was like...why haven't you been MEB'd??? I was like, i have no idea, I didn't think it was that serious. I never have major bowel issues...just some blood every now and then. So basically, my last flare up was in 04 it is now 11 and I was told I was going to be MEB'd. Since my case is not serious does anyone have any feel for if they will actually seperate me??? I too am at Hickam as Sean was/is(don't know his current status). I was totally blindsided by this! I thought i was going in to get some medicine and now after 9.5 years in, multiple deployments, and 90's on my pt tests since the beggining of pt test time i'm facing an MEB!!! not to mention i just got a line number for tech...wtf! Should I seriously be preparing myself for being seperated?

It depends if the PEB finds you fit or not. Beaware they may try and find this to be an EPTS condition. If you are active duty with at least 8 years of active duty, your condition will still be compensable even if EPTS w/o aggravation. See 10 usc 1207a.

Spacey, I'm still in at Hickam awaiting my SECAF appeal to come back. PM your email and I can talk you through the process.

I went to the ER and had my prostate check out due to extreme pain they gave me some tylonol 3 and levaquen antibiotics and a shot in the rear and also a STD test. The one with the big Q-tip. They think I have an inflammed prostate. Ive taken all the antibiotics and still no relief from pain what category do I fall in for meb determination?

I just got diagnosed with UC and it's bad, very debilitating, and I've been in over 8 years. Will the standard issued 10% disability still apply to my case?

so i , just recently, found out i have UC ive been in only 3 years and im nervous that i will get seperated.. ive been applying for BOP and such and i now have AAC -31 when i apply... im not sure wat i can do at this point..
