UNFIT / NOT RATED

I recently received my IPEB results and was found UNFIT. I asked to continue my Navy service and my NMA from my CO recommended I remain in the service as well. The IPEB wanted to separate me for a permanent condition that I had already been cleared for service under to begin with. I was found FIT for duty prior to commissioning WITH their knowledge that I have this permanent condition and now they are saying I am UNFIT and not service aggravated! I rejected my findings and demanded FPEB because I was found FIT to begin with and if it hasn't gotten worse with service then how am I all of a sudden UNFIT?? It doesn't make ANY sense! Anyone else out there have something similar happen to them?

Cami09,

Welcome! A few thoughts...I think you are on the right track on how you are viewing the issue. Seems highly likely that your condition must have been service aggravated if it has changed since you have been commissioned. How long have you been in? Has your condition prohibited you from completing some training/military education? I have seen that a few times, where a person is cleared to enter, then has problems with military schooling and the military (specifically, the Navy) has then blamed the school issue on a condition and then, since it was noted on entrance physical, claim that this means you were unfit back on entry. I think this is clearly wrong.

Be vigilant for them calling you FIT and then administratively separating you. I have seen this many times and I even have a lawsuit filed on this issue. If they attempt to separate you, please let us know.

Best of luck with your FPEB.

The same thing happened to me. They accepted me with Diabetes type 2 on pills, with no waiver recommended.. Then a year later when I did my PHA they gave gave me a P3. Now I am in the process of Inormal PEB. I want to stay in and finish my 3 year contract. I have 8 years prior service in the Reserves.
