Aug 28, 2020 - 2nd round of LIMDU ended
Nov 17, 2020 - referred to Med Board
December 8-10 2020 - QTC exams
January 10ish 2021 - NMA signed and sent
January 28, 2021 - VA reports complete and PEBLO sent package to Headquarters

I’ve been calling the VA once a week to ask for a preliminary rating but they say it’s still in the “collecting information” phase even though all the reports have been written. I’ve read that some have gotten a proposed rating before their package is even sent to HQ. Is this normal? I’ll continue calling. My VA contact is terrible at responding so I just call the number on their website and navigate to the Claims center.

I’ll post updates as they come.

Thank you for sharing.

Feb 22, 2021 - MOL says on my BIR that my PEB case was accepted. Still waiting to hear back from the VA rating team. I’ve been calling my MSC once a week.

Feb 22, 2021 - VA.gov says my decision is ready. Called my MSC and found out my proposed rating from the VA. Now just waiting on the board on their fit/unfit decision.

Did you find the "Your medical board case has been accepted by the PEB for action." on mol the day it was posted? Or did it say it was posted a few days before? Cuz I saw my acceptance msg the week after it was posted and my VA.gov has yet to change. Also do you call the VA around your duty station or is there like a general number?

MOL doesn’t tell me exactly when my case was accepted, but VA.gov showed me that my claim was finished on Feb 18. I didn’t see that until yesterday, Feb 23. (I was checking about every 3rd day). I was calling my MSC’s number with her extension. It was the local VA at Pendleton, because we don’t have a VA contact in Yuma. The MSC should have an extension for you in their signature for emails, or I’d call the general VA number and they can see your file and who your MSC is and get their number.

March 10 - told by my PEBLO that the board had deemed my condition unfit and the package was in the quality assurance phase.
March 11 - called by the LIMDU coordinator on my base and asked to come in. Signed unfit findings. I'll receive a severance package because of the rating.

Sent the findings to the PEBLO, MSC, and Headquarters, waiting for Manpower Division to change my EAS. I was told I'll get 20 days of PTAD on top of that and then I'll most likely take all my terminal leave with that if I'm all checked out. I started checking out today, and will continue tomorrow. I'll update once I see a new date in MOL.

How did you find that out? My Peblo is really terrible, he said it was to early to know, my case was accepted the 18th and I’m still waiting

Hey GWT, are you going to start your terminal leave soon before you get an official EAS date? Or are you going to wait until they give you one and risk losing a few leave days? I haven't been properly briefed on how that process works and I don't want to lose too many days if I could've taken them instead of waiting. If you know more about this I'd appreciate the insight.

As with anything, it is a very big waiting game. I emailed my PEBLO asking if he had heard anything about my case. it had been about three weeks, so I figured it couldn't hurt. Turns out, I had already been found unfit and it was in the QA stage. It never hurts to ask. I'm lucky to have a PEBLO that always responds quickly to emails. I'd say after 4 or 5 weeks, email once a week to see if anything has changed. The PEBLO might get annoyed, but oh well, it'll remind them to check your case.

Good Luck

I haven't gotten a straight answer about how far out my new EAS date will be. I've seen a few people on here get about 30 days, and some have told me it will be less than 90. I'll most likely take all my terminal, so subtract 30 days from my new EAS. I thought about selling my leave back, but I'll most likely only do that if i still need time to check out. My goal is to be ready to be home within a week or two. I'm lucky that where I'm going after is only a 4 hour drive away so I have have to deal with DMO and moving a whole house full of stuff. Just a barracks room full. You can either sell your days, take terminal, or use them like normal annual leave (I wouldn't do that unless you absolutely needed to and your command wouldn't let to miss work to check out or deal with moving things.) Taking terminal is the best deal if you're ready because you'll get your duty stations full BAH and BAS, both of which I don't currently get because I'm in the barracks, so it'll be a nice pay bump for two pay periods.

Have you heard anything about your new eas date yet? I signed my findings over a week ago and still haven’t heard about an updated eas. My command is not letting me check out until I get my new eas date and put in for terminal leave. I have 46 days of leave right now so I’ll probably have to sell back some days depending on how far out my new eas is.

It takes about 14 days for a new EAS date, I got mine next month on the 15th but I’ll only be here two weeks with terminal, so it’s pretty fast

I have heard back. I emailed the MMSR-4 division at HQMC, and they got back to me before it was uploaded on MOL. I was emailing them about every other day after the 14 day mark of nothing coming up on MOL. They gave me a new EAS of 6/15. I was planning on taking 33 days of terminal but my chain of command deemed me “essential” even though I wasn’t even supposed to be performing my daily duties (a whole other story) they were going to deny my terminal until my SgtMaj got wind of that and he allowed me to take 20 days. Pretty unhappy with my command, besides my SgtMaj, at the moment, but that’s nothing new.

I’m getting separated with severance pay after my findings. Have you heard anything about your severance package? I haven’t heard anything about it yet. I’m just wondering if/when I’ll get to sign the actual amount and/or how the recoupment works. I’ve had various stories about that part.

April 26 - after talks with SgtMaj, he went against my chain of command (recommending 10 days because I was “essential”) and gave me 20 days.

Terminal start date: May 27th.

I have not heard anything, I spoke to DFAS over the phone, they said it could take up to 3 months, she was suppose to get back to me but hung up on me.
