[USMC] New to PEB ! IDK what to do!

Hello all!

As stated in my title, I'm new to the PEB and don't really know what to do. I am a 21 Y/O female with 3 years active service with one year left on my contract. I was placed on Light Duty for 8 weeks after what medical diagnosed as a "hip flexor strain," and then later on "hip pain." I was placed on LIMDU for the latter on Sep 15 (stupid, I know) and after being given an MRI, I was found to have moderate labral tears in both of my hips along with sciatica and gluteal piriformis syndrome. I was given conservative treatment to date, and at the end of my LIMDU period, I was still in square one! Oddly enough, instead of being placed on a second period of LIMDU, I was referred to the PEB immediately after my first. So, I don't have an MEB to go off of, nor am I sure if they're just trying to get rid of me before my EAS and avoid "expensive treatment," or...what.

That was on 20160310; I was told that a PEBLO should have been in contact with me within a week or two, but it's been a month and I haven't heard from anyone at all. I turned my papers into the LIMDU POC and I wasn't given any type of advice on what to do (besides being told I should have never graduated boot camp because of my chronic stress fractures and other injuries) and I don't know what to do from here. My MOL says that my medical case has been referred to the PEB for action..whatever that means!

Any help is really appreciated, because if they can't help me get better, then I want to get the heck out and find someone who can ASAP!

@Nic-e12, What base are you on? Some of them have different starting process..
On lejuene you need to take the limdu paper to the MEB office at the hospital in addition to your LIMDU coordinator.
The office in the hospital then gets you set up with a PEBLO. Did the doc hand you your limdu form or someone else?
In my case the doc walked me down to that office (he knew I wouldn't do it if left up to me as I didn't want to go through the IDES ;) ) They had me set up to see the PEBLO the next day. I think if you've waited that long then something is not right. They should have you working on getting a NMA from the command and getting you to the VA exams.

Yes this situation is odd. I had been through 2 periods of LIMDU, a MEB where I reviewed NARSUM, and 3 QTC VA appointments well before my package was sent up to the PEB and receiving the MOL notification. Im intrigued to find out what is going on, keep us in the loop.

@CWOUSMC I was told that my SNCOIC and my company would be doing my NMA but I wasn't told when. The LTCMDR in charge of medical down here and my PCM were the ones who immediately referred me to the PEB seeing as how my PCM used to be one of the officers on the PEB board. I'm at the Marine Barracks and when I gave my paper to the LIMDU coordinator, he kind of just told me to stand by and that's all I've heard ever since.

You are still in the beginning stages then. You'll do your NMA with your chain of command like they said, I actually typed my own up and told my leadership that I wanted to be separated because of all of my conditions and they worked with me by wording their portions to fit an unfit decision. Not sure if you are trying to be found fit or unfit, but be honest and upfront with them either way and they should help out if they aren't di**s. You'll also eventually do your NARSUM with your medical providers as well. Same deal with them, nobody knows your conditions like you, so read over it all and don't be shy to tell them that they need to make some changes or add or take out things that don't add up. Service members often feel like they should just sit back and let the system work itself, but this is not one of those times. You should be involved fully every step of the way and be adamant but professional about it. You'll also get your QTC (VA) appointments out in town by a third party to review all of your conditions. Don't down play anything and do all of the things I just wrote about and you'll be good. I wish you the best and feel free to ask any questions along the way. Probably the best advice anyone can give to you at this point is to be patient because it's a long road. Semper Fi.

Hmm.. I'm not sure about Marine Barracks. They need to be speaking with you soon because you need to be assigned an MSC as well. I think you need to start asking who your assigned PEBLO and MSC are. It doesn't sound right to me.

UPDATE: It's been almost a month since I posted this and I have YET to be contacted by a PEBLO! I spoke to the LIMDU coordinator and he said that he doesn't know why they haven't been in contact with me. I'm scheduled for a hip arthroscopy on May 18, so I won't be available for any other courses of action until my convalescent leave is up. This is so frustrating...
