VA CASE

Will the NARSUM show me anything? Findings? Unfit/Fit determination? Or is it just a list of disabilities with evidence.??
NARSUM is the narrative summary of your reffered condition from your referring provider. They explain all treatment options, medicine, etc that you tried and they put their reccomendation if you are qualified for future service. Your command should also be doing your NMA(non-medical assessment) to describe from their standpoint what your limitations are and if you have potential for future service. Once these are all done, your PEBLO should then send your package up to the PEB for fit/unfit determination. From there, its been taking about 4-6 weeks for service members to get their findings. If I had to give a guess to your end of service date, I would say march/april. Thats assuming your package gets sent up in the next week or so and that you are found unfit and accept.your findings right away. Again, that's a complete guess. Just think, 4-6 weeks from submittal.to PEB. Then if you accept right away, another week or 2 until you get your new EAS, which is usually about 60-90 days after you signed your findings

Hey everyone, once you receive your mol notifications of PEB accepted the case on your mol, how long after that will you find out you are unfit/ fit?

I don't remember about the time from MOL notification but it was about 5 weeks from submitting the package to PEB

how much weight does your chain of commands statement make on the outcome.. if they recommended med retirement on black and white? might that sway the overall outcome or no?

(thank you all for your inputs, we are all learning with each post)

Re: "As for being under 20 years, you will only receive the disability compensation. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions."--Early in this thread

That comment is incomplete in my opinion.

1. An individual in that category must elect whether he/she wants to accept VA compensation and waive retired pay dollar for dollar in the amount of VA compensation.
Occasionally, there is residual (left over) retired pay the retiree gets to keep.

2. I have often repeated, I have never seen one case where it was more advantageous for the retiree to decline VA compensation.

3. The election to receive VA comp is made on the VA claim form. Block 26 should NOT be checked, (If you do want VA comp.)

Note: I saw the referenced comment for the first time this morning. I replied since the remark is often stated and continues to be incorrect or "incomplete."

It does hold weight but the NMA is their opinion of how your condition affects your ability to do your job. They are not supposed to give a reccomendation of retirement.

Also, the only thing that determines med retirement is your DOD rating. So they could write it all day but if you get 20%, you'll be separated instead
