VA Fuzzy Math Calculator

Ladies and Gents,

We all know the VA has a confusing way of adding your rating percentages together; if I were to add my percentage together through normal means, I would have about a 150% rating, but that's not the case. I found this rating calculator (excel spreadsheet) on the internet and thought it may help some of you figure an easy way of figuring out your combined percentage. All you have to do is type in your rating percentages and it will figure the combined rating out for you. Great tool!

IMPORTANT: Save the attachment to your computer, then make sure you right click the attachment and extract the file before you open it, or your computer may go berserk like mine did. If you just try to open it before extracting the files it will not work. Just follow my directions and it will work properly.

I'm sorry, I must have done something to the other one to make it not work, so I'm attaching the new one that works properly. You have to follow the same instructions on the original post to save and open it.

Marine,

Thanks for sharing! I wanted to ask members who do download if they like this solution better than the current one: http://www.pebforum.com/peb-calculator

To use, just input your percentages. For bilateral, input, in order, filling the first column and then the second.

I am very interested in any feedback.

Jason,

The one you posted is very accurate and much more reliable than the one I posted. The one I posted works accurate, but if you delete the pre-made formulas input in the blocks (this happens if you highlight more than one block and hit delete. You have to delete each box seperately), then it won't work after that if saved. I would suggest using the one Jason posted unless you know how to use the other one. Thanks for sharing this with us Jason.

The VA “fuzzy math” system is definitely confusing, especially when multiple disability ratings are combined. People often expect simple addition, but the “whole person” method changes the final outcome. Understanding calculations like this becomes easier when you break things down step by step, similar to how tools, simplify complex financial formulas.
