Hi all:

I filed my VARR today. The new tracker says the current Army average is 17 days. Given that my original ratings took almost 9 months and looked like they were written in an hour, is it really possible that the reconsideration can be done in a month or so? I haven't seen much information lately besides the tracker to compare. Any data or thoughts out there? Thanks...Bob

Thanks for the info. Bob

Indeed, congratulations; never default acceptance to potential injustice!

As such, my VARR from official PEB submission to the DoVA D-RAS (Seattle, WA) to receipt of Reconsideration #1 IPEB findings was a total of 84 calendar days.

To that extent, hopefully, the aforementioned information is not disturbing news at this point in time.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Thanks Warrior:
I've been in this process longer than a minute, so I know better than to have any expectations, much less realistic ones :).
What irks me is they missed one of the unfit diagnoses - just didn't address it at all. The PEB had sent over both diagnoses on the same line - but labelled dx1 and dx2 - but my attorney thinks the VA just didn't read carefully. So I wait because of someone's reading skills. Hope your process speeds up, it feels like we've both been here a long time. Bob

You are welcome, indeed! :)

Understood, and I concur 100%; where was the quality control?

It's only a matter of time at this point; we shall rejoice at the end for sure! Thanks!

@PsychOfficer ... I was just wondering if you've heard anything back on your VARR and if you could give me some advice. I just got my ratings back and my legal guy up in Lewis is recommending I to the VARR. We are fairly confident that the 30% for my DoD rated condition can get bumped up to 50%.

Your thoughts?

I think you should go for it.

Indeed, I concur; never default acceptance to potential injustice and submit the VARR request!

I think the others offer the same advice I will echo - its better to use your options now rather than hope for a better outcome later. A good attorney can basically do all the work for you now. My attorney did a great job of connecting all the dots for the VA - in my mind they either have to agree or get extremely creative in denying it (50/50 :)) He gave them all the regs and reasoning - all they really have to do is cut and paste. Given the time we wait for incorrect ratings, the time invested to get correct ones is not bad by comparison.

There may also be good news. We filed my VARR on 9 December -as of 18 December e-benefits and the new Army IDES system were potentially showing it had been completed. E-benefits changed to pending decision approval (it was in the waiting for separation documents/gathering evidence phase). I know that these systems aren't reliable, but they are both saying something happened on 13 December - so I am waiting to see if something happens after block leave. (I have no illusions that any work will be done from now to 6 January, unless its a Christmas miracle :))
The Army numbers are saying the average VARR/FPEB is 18 days - while we all find this hard to believe, I think the Formal Board is what takes longer - the VARR may be much quicker, if you haven't requested a board.

In short, I think you should get it taken care of now, rather than wish later you had. Best of luck...Bob
