Jason,
How do I calculate what my disability rating will be using the VASRD. I was looking for a link so I can look up all of my medical conditions before my MEB starts. Thanks

Josh

Josh,

Sorry, I missed your post until now. There are several things you can do to try to figure out what rating is appropriate.

First, if your condition is one of the ones that are common and listed in the VASRD, you can just find the code by going to the affected body system and scanning or searching the list until you find the right code. Then go to the VASRD section for the appropriate code and find the criteria.

Some conditions are not listed. If you can't find one, look at the Table of Analagous coded, alphabetical index. This may list a code that is analagous to a condition that the DoD has stated should be used. Remember, the VASRD compensates for losses to function and does not have every imaginable condition rated. If there is an absence of a condition, then you must use an analagous code.

Finally, there may be conditions not listed in Table of Analagous codes. For these, you will need to find a condition that most closely matches funtional limitation and symptomology of another listed condition. This will take some expertise, so if this applies to you, you will want to seek some assistance.

If my dr. evaluates me with the following, is it still a mandatory MEB report?

left sided mild/resolving colitis

I notice Ulcerative Colitis is 7323, would regular colitis be reportable as well?

I have a history of gynecology problems, starting with an ectpoic/D&C performed in '89, 2 C-sections, adhension removal stemming from surgeries performed in '89 to any number of problems with IBS, chronic pelvic pain etc. How do I get the board to rule favorably that my medical conditions resulted while in service and where not diagnoised/treated throughout my tenure in the military?

Are you active duty or reserve component? How many years of service do you have? What is your current duty status if you are a reservist?
