VR&E with MH conditions

Just reaching out to folks in here to see if I am going to have an issue qualifying for VR&E with a 100% rated MH condition. The box for total occupational and social impairment is checked.

Is this an immediate disqualification if I want to go back to school to qualify for something in the mental health field? It seems like the only time I really feel alive or have a purpose is when I’m helping others who are going through their own mental health struggles and just need someone there for them.

Would they consider letting me use this program to go to school? I want to eventually work, and I want to help other vets struggling through the mental health process.

You will need to contact the VA education counselor to discuss a VR&E plan that the VA will approve. Your MSC should have (or should) give you the contact info for the VR&E counselor. I don't see why a 100% MH would preclude you from job training/education unless there's extenuating circumstances. You can even go to online schools through VR&E. Apply for it and make the VA tell you "no." I doubt they will tell you no, however.
