Wait Time For Providence, RI

So my wait goes on for my orders. I called the Air Force Personnel Center last week to inquire and they told me I'd have them this week. Well I called back today to make sure they are on track and they told me possibly another 2 weeks. If that's the case it'll be over a month from the time I signed my ratings until I receive my orders. I did ask the lady if there was a timeline per the AFI(regulation) and she told me there was, 10 days. I then asked her if there was a division of the IG that oversaw them. Be aware this lady was only a telephone operator and not part of the medical disability section. She said she didn't know but then transferred me to another lady that ran the section, normally this isn't allowed I was told but my guess is the word "IG" makes ears perk up. I explained my case to her and she said she would be looking into it as soon as lunch was over. I understand they are undermanned and over tasked, but who in the government isn't. If you are going to publish a timeline that you are supposed to abide by, them I'm going to hold your feet to the fire. What's the worst that could happen?

In similar fashion with the proposed ratings, there is a regulation that indicates that:
"The D-RAS will rate the Service member’s referred and claimed Service-connected
disabilities and provide a proposed rating decision, with rationale, to the PEB within 15 days of
notification by the PEB administration staff that a Service member is unfit."

DTM-11-015 appendix 11 to attachment 4.

The VA never follows this and they are way behind this 15 days

Well at least you have a date now...I know we both requested June 30th, so i'm wondering if mine will be the same? I can tell the further the time goes along, the less chance i have of separating on the 30th. July is fine. I just want to make sure that from the day the orders hit i can start terminal since i'm practically done checking out. I have 40.5 days of leave and with 10 ptdy that can carry me till the end of July starting on the 9th of this month...
C'MMMOOOOOOON ORDERS!!!

The problem I have is that I have to retire at the end of a month so if they push me out anymore I'll have to sell back leave because my dates will no longer match up. I believe if you're being separated it's not a concern, honestly I'm not too worried I haven't been required to go to work since I signed my ratings.

I expected it from the VA, I was told it would go over all proposed time lines, that doesn't make it okay. I didn't expect the same treatment when it came to the Air Force, at least I have more latitude when it comes to the AF part of the process. I know what to say and I know who to call if need be.

Weapons loader,

I'm also AF (AD) and feel disappointed how much they keep us in the dark. I can't accept any job offer, because of the uncertainty with the entire process. I see that it took you almost 5 months to get your ratings, how many conditions you have? I have 4 referred and 10 claimed, which looks that I will be waiting for a long time.

Initially I had 3 referred but after I submitted an IMR I ended up with 4 referred and something like 14 claimed. My timeline was pretty par for the course. One thing I can recommend is that if and when you go over 125 days waiting on ratings that you call the 1800 #, once you are over 125 they track you differently and you are supposed to have priority. They can at that point submit a query directly to Prividence asking why it is taking so long. Once this was submitted on my case I went to pending decision within 2 hours of the call and had ratings a couple weeks after that. I think the average civilian would be floored if they knew the process to just receive ratings, I've read where others on here try and justify the length of time it takes but as far as I'm concerned there is no justification. The VA said they would complete something in XX # of days, nobody made them print these guidelines it what they said they could accomplish, so they should be held to that. If it's by sheer laziness or neglect that it takes so long then people should be losing jobs.

Don't know about the Navy side, but the Marine Corps will make you EAS the 2nd to last day of the month. Has to be like that for the benefits/admin/whatever reason...So my choice was July 30th which is what it was updated to this morning, or August. I wasn't waiting...selling them back.

I'm going to be forced to sell back, my retirement date was requested for 29 Oct but that was assuming I signed out of the base on 17 June. For me it doesn't make sense to sell back leave since I will receive all my allowances while on terminal, BAS, COLA and BAH. The 3 of those are $3500 a month.

Yeah i'm waiting on orders to hear what Navy has to say about Separation days..I just had to practically turn down a job because i have no damn idea when i'm going to be home!!!!!! Hard to explain to a place that wants to hire you that you are leaving the military whenever they get off their ass and give you a date....

From your unfit finding

Mine is in the system now. July 30th.

How long did it take from when you signed your findings? I had my COC contact USMC HQ to have mine moved to July 30th but apparently they don't have my "index" so cannot update it yet.

I contacted MMSR myself and talked to the people in the diary section and shot them an email. The morning they recieved my index and confirmed the date I wanted. Otherwise, they said that they will take the number of days of leave you have and then add 30 days, but it has to be the day before the last day of the month. It was about 2 weeks for me or so from PEBLO to MMSR.

Well it has been a long, long road. Tomorrow is my last day of work. The movers are coming on Wednesday. So happy to get out of this God forsaken state and get back to Tennessee. I was originally referred to MEB in August 13 and my retirement date is July 28th. So almost a year for me to get through the process. It was very long and irritating. Just glad it's over. The only thing I can pass on is - "This too shall pass."

Got my orders today with the sep date i asked for of June 30th. Now fighting with stupid move.mil website to get my stuff packed out asap!!!!! I hate being under Army umbrella as a Sailor...

Jubs, Could I ask who your POC was via email? I've been in contact with a Lcpl. up there that handles this from what I'm told. Still waiting on my index and my grandmother has been moved to hospice...

Mine also began in August and I'm still waiting on orders but got an email today that said I was second in line and should have them Fri/Mon. How long did it take for the movers to get to your stuff once you set up your move?

Congrats! I would've done the same, but with a wife and 2 kids that was a bit much to put on the family. That's awesome that it worked out for you! I go on terminal in 2 weeks.
