Hi. My husband is a sgt in the laang. He spent a year in Afghanistan and sustained an injury to his wrist and also recently diagnosed with ptsd. He got out of the guard last year then got back in a few months later. He also recently sought treatment for his alcohol problems through the SUDS program at Shreveport va. He just recently (06/22) filed for compensation benefits after nearly losing his civilian job and then being demoted. He was formally diagnosed with ptsd at his c&p appointment last Monday 10/24, also alcohol from ptsd. We are now in the pending decision approval phase with an estimated completion 10/30-11/01. Just curious of what to expect and if him still being in the national guard will affect the outcome. We are hoping for monetary compensation to help with our bills since his problems have seriously interfered with his ability to support the family but we're really hoping for the service connection so he can get the proper treatment for ptsd at no cost. Just curious if anyone else has a similar situation or experience with Overton brooks vmac.
