What to do While Waiting for Orders (Panic, Anxiety, Work Issues)

Hello all! I have already received my proposed VA ratings (100%) and DOD (90%). I was rated at 50% for anxiety/panic attacks/depression as part of my rating. Because I am an AGR Soldier my unit still expects me to perform to standard (there are only two of us supporting and entire unit of 150 Soldiers) I can't. It is as simple as that. I have daily panic and anxiety attacks and am on strong medications which help bring me down from the panic attacks specifically. I am currently in this gray window where I am expected to report and perform my duties but I have been found unfit for duty. In addition to 50% for behavioral health, I am also rated at 50% for Migraine (2-3 per week and incapacitating), 60% for systemic lupus, and 30% for other issues.

So my question is this: Convalescent leave. I know that a Hospital Commander can approve convalescent leave for an excess of 30 days. Has anyone heard of this being done for Soldier waiting to process out? I'm desperate at this point. We had actually looked at transfering me into a WTU but at this point, it is only a matter of weeks before I have my orders. I just need something to cover me until then.

Thanks!

Just stop going?

You can’t just stop going! The legal and judicial ramifications would be huge!

I was given convalescent leave at the end of my duty. For 90 days. And before that I was attached to the med board company. Ask to be attached to one of those. Then you don’t have to do all of the other stuff. You still have to report and stuff but you report and then go to barracks or wherever you house and that’s it.

Thanks for your response, Keebs! For your conleave, did you go to a military medical facility and request the conleave through a doctor there?

I was sent to Madigan hospital and a doctor there placed me on it. This was 14 years ago so I don’t remember very much about it all. Sorry

It's okay. They denied my conleave. :( They said it wasn't exactly appropriate for my situation and that this real problem was that they needed to just rush my orders. I told him that they were backlogged. He said he was going to try to make some phone calls but I did not get the impression that he was very dependable and have since heard nothing from him. How is conleave not appropriate? I'm ill and have significant behavioral health issues which are being exacerbated by going to work. He said he didn't understand why they were still making me report everyday and I said that either I have to report for duty or I have to have a doctors note. My doctors are getting really fed up with creating notes for conditions which have resulted in 100% disability and are already clearly documented. Isn't that the biggest doctors note they could possibly need? I feel so exhausted and irritated by this entire process.

Well, ask your doctor for a P4 profile that limits what you have to do. Same thing as conleave. They want to play the paperwork game then so can you. Have them put you can only report for so many minutes in formation and blah blah blah

Luckily my Commander went ahead and approved 30 days of conleave after I asked my PEBLOs supervisor to contact him directly. My PEBLO team said that if I don't have my orders by the 30 day mark that they would contact the Hospital Commander directly to have my conleave extended.
