What to expect?

Not sure if I am posting in the correct place, if not please let me know. I will try to keep this brief. I am in the Air National guard with over 7 years active duty and 11 years in the Guard. I was in an auto accident on drill weekend in which I went to the emergency room for treatment. I hurt my lower back and have not been able to complete a current PT test. I have been on profile but a couple of drills ago, I was summoned to to medical clinic and told that I had drug this out for as long as I could and that they were going to send me to a medical review board. I have NEVER been on a profile before and have never NOT passed a PT test. Although I have constantly been seeing my private doctor continuously over the last 2 years, they encouraged me to see a specialist. I have done that at my own expense. I have been diagnosed with degenerative disc and a ruptured disc. I will be going tomorrow for the epidural injection of steroids. I tried to explain to my DR that I need to be able to pass my PT in order to continue in the Guard to my retirement. He pretty much said that will not be happening.
I am very concerned that if he will not release me to take my PT test, what will happen to me? I have worked and devoted so much of my life to the military and I just wanted to be able to retire. I also have been researching the VA ratings and have several other conditions that I feel will be ratable. I have an appointment with a rep (sorry I do not know his complete title) in a few weeks and he will help me review my records and submit my info to the VA.
Sorry I am rambling, but this is really scary thinking that I am within one enlistment and may not be able to retire. I have figured my retirement benefits into my entire retirement plan, and now my life is in the hands of others.
Please chime in with any info and what anyone feels is my best course of action.
My enlistment was up in Mar and they allowed me to extend in order to figure out if I will be able to continue.
Thanks to all for your help.
