Where am I in the process

My dates changed on Ebennies last week too. I was trying not to read too much into it, but it did give me some hope that maybe something moved along in the process. Hopefully the VA is only about a week, that would be a huge relief.

@USMC.JCA You might be in the same boat as me. Have you called PEBLO/PEB to find out?

I haven't yet, I was trying to wait it out the best I can. I have been considering using the VA chat system, my PEBLO seemed very agitated when I asked him some questions a few weeks ago. He usually gives me a copy and pasted answer every time that says, "average wait time is 8 weeks... blah blah blah". I'm trying not to bug him too much.

I haven't tried the chat system but like I said before, they sent my stuff to the VA on Monday and the same day the VA said they don't have my stuff. Guess it takes a couple days. You could call the PEB and ask them where your stuff is at since your PEBLO doesn't seem like much help.

The number mitch84 gave me was 202-685-6418. I'm really trying to hold out calling, but if you do, let me know how it goes!
I called the peb today and I was told it's with the presiding officer still, there's 700 cases in the same spot I'm in right now and to call back in 2 weeks or so and see if it's moved any because they just did a changeover of the officers and have to train the ones that just got there on how to determine cases.

@USMC.JCA This is the light at the end of the tunnel. I reached out to my PEBLO. Couldn't wait any longer. I knew it was in the QA phase Thursday of last week and that if I was found 'UNFIT' they would be sending it to the VA this week. They will only call you once they receive your findings from the PEB and will not give you any updates. You have to call if you want to find anything out.

@kaylahersh
If you give the PEB a call they can tell you exactly who your package is with and you can figure out a timeline from there. Only reason I called them was because I couldn't get in touch with my PEBLO.

No movement on Ebennies yet (except for the dates changed) and I called the VA on Monday and they said they had not received anything from the PEB yet. PEBLO said it should take anywhere from a month to three months, but I've been hearing ratings are coming back to the PEB in about a little over a week or so. Hopefully this is true in my case.
@mitch84 when did the peb accept your package?

Thank you for sharing what you found. Any insight helps! Hopefully this changeover goes smoothly, it's kind of unnerving to know that it will probably slow down while they go through the transition.

Called the PEB just now, case was accepted on MOL on August 16th, still sitting at the first presiding officer, so can take 2-2 and a half more weeks. So frustrating, how can it be sitting at the first vote when it's already been there for 26 working days? At the very least I would anticipate it would be at the second vote, but still the first? This process is ridiculous.

They told me the exact same thing about the two to two in a half weeks

I have a feeling ours are batched together since they were both accepted on the 16th. That is unfortunate that it hasn't made much progress. It sounds like they are pretty backed up right now. I'm still holding out hope for that 8 week goal.

I know that at this point I shouldn't be getting so frustrated, but how is anyone supposed to plan their future if it takes MONTHS to tell them what their future is going to look like? I'm glad I'm not alone though, I just am so confused about how the Airforce can give answers in days, and yet we wait for months. I think I'm just extra salty today lol.

Also if they think I'm not calling every week they are being overly optimistic!

I am definitely with you, it's very aggravating. I have a family of five to support and I'm on a tour of Recruiting Duty HELL. I have already completed my 3 years here but because I'm going through the PEB and my EAS is in November, they are keeping me here. The sad part is, my injury happened back in 2013 and I've been on limdu ever since. This should have been done a LONG time ago. I'm ready to move on and start preparing for the next step.

Like I have told people in other threads, contact your congressman. I contacted mine 2 weeks ago and he e-mailed me last week letting me know he was engaging the USMC. This is all bullshit, its your life and your families life that is put on hold because their system is broken. Speak up! Reach out to your congressman!

What is your congressman supposed to do? Its not like your packet is sitting in some dusty warehouse forgotten about.

When it comes down to it, all people really want is for their packet to be moved to the head of the line.

Calling your congressman will not make that happen. In fact, it could slow down your process because they won't finalize your board until the congressional inquiry is complete.

So, yeah, speak up!

I agree Chaps! You will probably be doing yourself more harm than good. usmcestep, do you feel better because your Congressman sent you an email? I'm almost positive my packet has been up there the longest (100+ days) and was just sent to the VA this week. I think you may have forgotten you're dealing with the DON and everything is "hurry up and wait". These "timelines" should be called "guidelines".

@Chaps_Z: Why are you so against speaking up about the process. No one here is trying to cut to the head of the line. We just want the process to follow the guidelines and time frames that are given. We can argue all day over timeline "goals" and what is in the regs but bottom line here is the PEB is not meeting any "goal" and in most cases is very far off.

Please explain to me what is wrong with holding the PEB accountable by contacting a congressman. We have no one else to turn to. The way this system is set up, there is no in between. You cannot even file an ICE complaint because they purposely don't have a link for the PEB. So if there is a middle man somewhere we can talk to, by all means let us know.

When I posted a tread asking for info about resources short of contacting my congressman, all I got was your response asking me why "I'm in such a hurry" and some crap about still getting paid and health care while still on active duty.

I have been dealing with my medical issues for 3 years since they became bad enough to go to medical. Spent the last 2 years dealing with different providers telling me they were going to put me up for med board and then didn't. Finally placed on med board this April. Im almost a year past my EAS, on my third extension just waiting for this god damn PEB to make a decision. 101 days now since my package went to Washington.

So you tell me how to plan my life or prepare for anything if this is how it's gonna be. I say everybody contact their congressman!

I don't really think it's a problem for someone to speak up if there is a fundamental issue with the system. If a packet is sitting in the same place for 26 days, that is a problem. To be told from the place it has been sitting for 26 days it will take 2 weeks, means that the longest part of the process is waiting for that one first signature. Name one time in the Marine Corps when you have been given a deadline and then just let the task just sit untouched. I am not unsympathetic to the fact that those who work for the PEB are likely a victim to bureaucracy in the same way we all are in the military; but I have served well, and continue to do so, I work my ass of for that paycheck, and I don't think wanting to have an idea of whether or not (or for how much longer) I am going to be receiving it is all that strange.

I do not want to skip the line, I want the line to move in a way that is comparable to the way I was expected to do my job my entire career. I did not want to be injured, but I am. I did not want to possibly have my career end abruptly, but it might. My son goes to daycare on base, so if I'm found unfit I have to figure out childcare, we own a home, so the mortgage is also something we need to consider, all of these things are hinging on 3 people signing a piece of paper, so I can plan for the future of me and my family. Even with all of this, I am one of the lucky people who will be ok because I have saved and planned for every eventuality. You seem to think that the people who have a problem with the timeline are being selfish. I'm more concerned about the people who are going to be coming after me, who if we don't speak up now, will be dealing with the same broken, and slowed system.

I am not writing my congressman, nor am I calling my PEBLO everyday, I am going with the flow as much as humanly possible, but please feel free to consider the entire spectrum of people's motives before you passive aggressively shoot them down.

@jessylynn : I fully agree with your last post.

No one who has ever served their country can say it's ok to see a wrong and not say or do something about it. This is not about the individual, it's about the process. Everyone will suffer if it's not corrected.

I have always been told "complaining about something without offering a solution, is called whining". I wish so much that i had insight into the workings of the PEB so I could offer a solution. Without that, all I can do is voice the issue and make it known there is a problem. If that means "whining" to somebody, so be it.
