Wait Time For Providence, RI

Active lurker here...

My case has been at Providence since 19 Sept 13 and in the preparation of decision stage for about the past four months. Finally today 7 Feb my status changed to Pending Decision Approval, this conveniently happened right after I complained to my MSC. I am hoping to hear something soon, as this process has me slowly losing my sanity. Also, my PEBLO said the VA was asking for my DD214 but I'm still on active duty. Why would they do this? And is there any signicance?

technically the VA cannot finalize any ratings until they have your 214, its possible that your not coded as beeing in the DES process, however your package went up the day after mine, and I just moved to prep for decision tuesday, so either we are bothed hosed or just bad timing.

I wouldnt worry about the 214 thing, unless they have actually finished your prelim ratings, it just means they do not have you stacked as a DES case. You package went up the day after mine and I am still waiting, so either we were both hosed or just bad timing for our stuff to go up.

holly quadrupple tripple post

did not see update so reyped and seems both double posted lol.

I just called the 800 VA number and the rep said that I was rated today. I asked how long until completion, and she said as much as 87 days but it shouldn't take that long. She also asked for my address for when they mail out the package. Hopefully this nightmare is coming to an end soon.

For me the ratings are only the beginning of the end, I am fairly confident in one thing, the inability of the MEB/AFPC personnel to act in the best interest of the Airman. I had to fight to get a few things added that are in the regulations as automatic MEB eligible items, and they did not even add all of them. So I am fairly certain a formal is in my future. Further I imagine that the confusion between my two main physically disabling injuries will of caused some rating issues on what I would consider fair. With all of that said However if my stuff comes back at 605 or greater DoD and 100% even with some items underrated, I'll probally forgo the fight and just handle the appeals process once out. I am so ready to move forward with my life, but without 100% VA and if SSDI does not come through, then My family will suffer, that I cannot allow.

Now that I am on "pending decision approval" on ebennies and confirmed by peggy I am going crazy.

I just want this process to be done.

I hope my package doesn't get picked up by the dreaded STAR review team and I hope the final approver doesn't send it back to the "review of evidence" phase.

I've been so motivated this week. Hopefully this coming week we will see many cases move forward in Providence!

Yup Peggy confirmed mine as well I can't to hear back from the PEB so know
What I'm gonna get

I hear you both, sadly even though every stage has clear beginnings and endings (somewhat) of the IDES process, this one alone is where the chains stop clicking on the track and that first car or two crests the hill before the free fall into the first loop. everything else is just standing in line and boarding the train. I want the ride to be over, but I know when this one ends, there will be another line for another roller coaster in the process.

Frank please let us know how long after you signed your form for the ratings you got your new EAS. I know it has not happened yet, but for my own sanity when it does please let us know. You are one of the Marines on this and I want to know how long Marine Corps Headquarters takes once the ball is in their court. We are one step closer buddy and i can't wait any longer. I am so happy and I am not even out yet.

TSgt i would try to talk to your VA rep, because, like my case, it might not be flagged as an IDES claim so they basically throw it in another pile for waiting to get out. Thats what I dealt with and that is why mine took so long. My VA rep had to call the director and get it fixed it was an extra pain in my ass. But soon brother it will be done

No problem dapats, I'm anxiously checking mol religiously like ebenefits before my ratings came in lol. You should be getting your ratings back this week , wish you the best with your findings.

"Peggy" is the name given to any service rep you talk to when you call the VA 1 800 #.

hahah my va advocate rep is actually named peggy like its on her card all tho that might be a joke too like this whole process

New here - and trying to find some answers, so bear with me - dates are approximate as well! My husband started his med board package on the IDES system in June 2013, submitted in September 2013, Findings of Fit came back in October 2013, Requested Formal Board, and then received Unfit findings with package being sent to VA in November 2013. VA received package Dec. 9, 2013. We just checked ebenefits, after reading through this thread - and saw that his status was "Preparation for Decision". Does this mean the end is near? His EAS has already been extended once for 6 months for the end of March, and he's pretty adamant that he's NOT extending again. :p In fact, he's already on terminal leave and is completely checked out of his unit, and has a gig lined up for the end of next month. Kind of curious how this is all going to play out, so any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I should add, that he's was graciously allowed to be on permanent limited duty for the last few years until his retirement date after a pretty nasty accident his last deployment.

Well he will not have a choice to extend or not, he agreed to that by entering into the IDES process if he is a reservist. If he is active, he also acknowledge it, if he somehow has an approved retirement date and been in IDES all this time, then someone screwed up ROYAL style with cheese. Now if he is on Home awaiting orders, thats different and also would not change if he had to extend again.

But to answer the question as asked, prep for decision means that his package has been assigned to a rater, that is all, it may be 1 week it may be 3, until ratings are done, and then the wait for AFPC starts, it may be 3 days like is supposed to be, or it may be 4-6 weeks as is average. THEN, still has to wait for orders to be official, and assign a date, to include any permissive TDY's etc.

Thanks for the info! He is in fact, active duty - but yeah, he was given his DD214 from his command when he finished checking out last week. I love how screwy this whole process has been...

Edited to say: Husband just called me and told me that the 6 month extension wasn't forced upon him - that he had to actually request it.

I don't know... someone somewhere along the way seriously dropped the ball on this one.

IF he is still in the MEB process and got retired, even if a legal 20+ year retirement, someone broke a law.

What law would this be? He's been completely on the up-and up with everyone. His command knows, HQ knows, Gunny Snow his PEBLO knows (he just spoke with him again today about this). He was told that he couldn't even start the process of making his med appointments until a few months before his retirement..... I don't understand how they could have told him that in the first place if its illegal.

Can you point me to where this information is? Thanks again!

I've been in Pending Decision Approval phase on ebennies since 04Feb.

Got a call from my DAV today stating that my proposed ratings were complete as of 04Feb ???? ( this was on voicemail, I tried to call back but I was put on a call back list by his secretary).

Just called Peggy and she said the VA is still in the "finalizing" stages of my proposed ratings.

I don't know what the hell is going on. What's new?

This process is draining me.

So far from what I've gathered this past month, most members on here refer to DAV alot, and somewhat get a realistic response. What about the PEBLO, are they reliable or useful ? or are they just another lost source ?
