I hit TRANSPOC this morning! Transitions is closed until 1300, so I will turn in my required documents today requesting an early separation date.

All right; a two-day turn-around for TRANSPOC acceptance! Congratulations! Good news, good news! :D

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

How did you know you hit transpoc? My timeline is close to yours and am curious.

Thank you! How did you manage to get out so soon after hitting TRANSPOC? I walked in yesterday and they told me to kick rocks because I have only been on the list 1 day...I am on Jblm. I have.my early separation request form and a signed Da 31 for leave starting August 1st.

No worries, you are quite welcome! :)

Well, I had a total of 91 leave days to use without requesting PTDY or potentially lose 31 days due to the 60-day maximum allowance by HQ USAPDA. Therefore, I had only 3 calendar days to complete all post clearing activities albeit it was accomplished in 2 calendar days due to a 1-day inclement weather post closure for snow/ice.

Hmm, it seems that you have 9 calendar work days to perform all post clearing activities prior to the start of your official DSWP. That said, are you capable to potentially complete all post clearing activities in less than 9 calendar working days at this point in time albeit each military installation has its own guidelines for general implementation?

Indeed, nonetheless, it's time to get very busy; take care and enjoy life! ;)

Unfortunately, this seems to be the "norm" or "business practice" since either the PEBLO and/or MSC will not usually volunteer any DoVA D-RAS proposed ratings until receipt of the IPEB finding (e.g., DA Form 199). :(

Hmm, on a brighter note, it seems that you should be receiving your DA Form 199 very soon either this week or NLT next week for sure in my opinion; it's normally a 2 week to 1 month duration for completion. ;) Take care and enjoy!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Thanks brother, I am just a little concerned because there are people in my unit who's proposed ratings were done and forwarded back to IPEB a week AFTER mine and they have already signed their 199's..... Is that typical? I figured they would have been done in the order received.

You are quite welcome, indeed! :)

Hmm, typical...I don't know since I am not aware of the specific order of processing DoD IDES case files by each regional PEB within HQ USAPDA at this point.

Nonetheless, it seems that you are definitely within the queue for adjudication of your IPEB findings. That said, what responses are you receiving from your designated PEBLO when asked about the status receipt of your DA Form 199?

Well, during this whole process I have only contacted her 3 times because she never gives me any update. Each time I have called her she was very cold towards me and made me feel like I was bothering her. I don't want to step on her toes or do anything that could delay my case. I only found out that my proposed ratings were complete by contacting the VA and when I called her to let her know she sounded annoyed that I had done that.....Either way I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, I am just paranoid that something happened because I have read some horror stories on here. Thanks for the quick responses.

No worries albeit I (personally) have a concern about the attitude of your assigned PEBLO!

That said, her duties are to assist you while in the DoD IDES process; not yielding an "attitude" when you contact her about the status of your DoD IDES case file.

Nonetheless, I don't believe she shall try to "road block" your DoD IDES paperwork at this point in time.

Hmm, her immediate supervisor should receive information about the "lack of services with an attitude" from your assigned PEBLO at least in my opinion for sure! Take care, remain positively proactive and you are quite welcome!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

you can call the army physical disability agency and they will tell you if you're on transpoc or not. I knew before my peblo did.

Just wanted to throw this out there, in case anyone else was wondering on timelines for final ratings. I medically retired 28 June and checked ebenfits today. My claim was finalized 16 July and changed to Notification Sent. Pretty fast compared to the 60 day minimum I was told.

Good to hear they are picking up the slack!

Hmm, a very Good deal since I am still awaiting DoVA final ratings from my recent military disability retirement starting on 27 May 2014 due to a change in my medical status after DoVA proposed ratings! Take care and enjoy your medical disability retirement!

Just talked to my PEBLO yesterday. She said the PEB has received my packet and my proposed are 80 VA 10 DOD. When my 199 is ready I will be putting in for a formal PEB to have 1. Lower back DDD rated at 10% and 2. Right Sciatica rated at 10% as well rated as unfitting to receive 30% total from DOD. She informed me it takes 30 days to receive the board date and the board will be 30 days after that. She also said If i have enough supporting documents that legal can conduct a "drug deal" and get the increase with out even attending a board, this route she said takes about 2 weeks. What is everyone's input on the validity of this information? Also my unit is informing me the max leave I can take is 60 days including PTDY. With PTDY ill have just over 80 days. Is this information correct as well? or can I put in for the whole 80? And lastly when will I find out my "no later than" date? Do i turn in leave forms after this date is received?

From my experiences within the DoD IDES process, I offer the following feedback in support of your specific inquiry:

Q1. What is everyone's input on the validity of this information?
A1a. Hmm, I have read on the PEB Forum of some military service members in the DoD IDES who were successful with the "drug deal" and not having to request a Formal PEB hearing for resolution of that specific concern.
A1b. Please remember that the IPEB can't yield/issue/develop a DoVA rating; they can only adopt the rating issued by the DoVA D-RAS.
A1c. Therefore, for any "unfit for duty" medical condition, if a DoVA rating doesn't exist or if the DoVA rating isn't IAW the VASRD (e.g., low balled) then a request for a VARR submittalis the proper action for a potential resolution.

Q2. Is this information correct as well? or can I put in for the whole 80?
A2a. No, it's not accurate! In accordance with HQ USAPDA, a military service member is authorized a maximum of 90 days transition leave [e.g., up to 60 days for ordinary leave + up to 30 days for PTDY (if retirement applicable) + up to 10 days for military installation clearance] albeit a request for an exception to the aforementioned policy can be submitted to HQ USAPDA at anytime.
A2b. Yes, please submit a request for the entire 80 days of transition leave albeit I can't recall the maximum amount of PTDY authorized for soldiers who are given Disability with Severance Pay (DWSP); I believe it's 10 days?
A2c. In retrospect, I requested and was approved for 91 days of transition leave without any PTDY included naturally!

Q3. Lastly when will I find out my "no later than" date? Do i turn in leave forms after this date is received?
A3a. Upon placement into TRANSPOC-III for generation of military retirement/separation orders, your "not later than" date shall be known at that point in time.
A3b. Indeed, after completion of your final military finance/military pay office appointment, you should know exactly the total amount of military leave days accumulated order to properly select your DWSP date which should not exceed the USAPDA issued "not later than" date for official military separation from the U.S. Army.

More specifically in reference to Q3 above, the USAPDA will assign a "not later than" separation date that will not exceed 90-days after the completion of processing the final determination by the USAPDA. The Installation Commander, through the transition center, will establish a separation date within the 90-day window. The not to exceed 90-day window allow military installations flexibility to assign a separation date within the 90-day window based on individual military service member circumstances, but should not be construed as an opportunity to delay the departure of a military service member from active duty.

Generally, the separation date should factor in the total number of days required to clear the command, authorize permissive temporary duty (PTDY) for eligible active component military service members, and allow for the use of accrued leave (e.g., transition leave).

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

warrior,
Did transpoc contact you prior to publishing your orders or did they come down on their own? I think I just hit transpoc. What should I do next? Should I contact anyone or simply wait?

In my particular situation, I established a very good rapport with the Retirement Service Officer (RSO) at the Military Transition Office on post. To that extent, I would contact her every so often to ask if she received the TRANSPOC-III message to date.

Upon the Military Transition Office's receipt of the TRANSPOC-III message, I received an email from the RSO stating so then I was "off and running" to her office to initiate military transition proceedings.

With that all said, please contact the Military Transition Office on your military installation and speak with a RSO about your particular situation. Your TRANSPOC-III information shall either be in the government system or not; simply put. Then, ask if they could contact you when your TRANSPOC-III message arrives. Take care and continue to enjoy life!

Warrior- i have not idea how you endured 618 days of this nonsense. i am 5 months into the IDES process (actually add another 4 months for the team at pinellas park Fl). Moreover i have been be waiting for VA raiting for 2.5 months. The good thing is that we have seen a good amount of VA cases being rated between 67 and 80 days as of late. i am hopimg that i am in this group.

i will keep you all updated

Indeed, and at times I wished the DoD IDES process was "over instantly" but I ensured to concentrate all of my efforts on the "big" picture of potential outcomes while on military active duty in the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process. :)

Nonetheless, I would also offer that you please remain strong and stay focus on the "big" picture of potential outcomes while in the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process; you can do it for sure! ;)

With that all said, take care and enjoy your forthcoming military disability compensation benefits!

Just a update it's been a while since I have been on. My retirement date came and passed it was June 27th. My final pay hit on the 1st of July which from what I hear is pretty much in par with others. Ebenefits has not changed since march 11th when it went back to gathering evidence requesting seperation docs. Now I find myself checking ebenefits three times a day waiting for the claim to finally be complete so I can hopefully buy a house. I have seen some people on here get lucky and have their claims closed out after two or three weeks I'm just hoping mine is coming close to the end. Thanks to all on here for help getting thru the process.
