Yes (6 years), if you waived retired pay in the amount of the VA comp during that period.

I turned mine in the first week of October 2022, received my approval letter about a week later. Received my first monthly payment in November.

It depends a lot on the service, with Army taking approx 60 days.

Yeah, my buddy who was in the Army turned his in around Mid-October of this year, still waiting. The AF turn around is rather quick, 2-4 weeks.

I submitted on the 27th of oct and got the received the submission on the 31st.
Hope your buddy gets his quickly.
