TERA Question regarding 10 USC 1405 vs 10 USC 12733

Good morning,

I was reviewing my TDRL order and I never noticed the 10 USC 12733 being over 15 years. Is this able to be used to apply/qualify for TERA? Figure it is a long shot, but I appreciate your help in answering this.

The following is a snippet from the top portion of my TDRL order.


YEARS MONTHS DAYS SERVICE FOR BASIC PAY: 17 07 13
ACTIVE SERVICE FOR RETIREMENT: 14 01 20
SERVICE PER 10 USC 1405: NA
SERVICE PER 10 U.S.C. 12733: 15.33 (5522 POINTS)
 
As far as Army goes TERA was terminated 28FEB2018. The authority to use it goes through 2025, however current conditions for force shaping are not applicable at this time. Not sure about the other branches.

I don't think the AF does TERA anymore but you can google it to see. The only branches that offer Tera is Navy/Marines. Basically if found unfit then you apply for TERA and if approved they retire you instead of medically retiring you. If you retire with TERA and have a VA% of 50% or higher you get CRDP. Also, if you apply and get CRSC its possible to get a higher amount than going the TERA route since TERA's formula give you less for being able to retire early.
 
Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. So much out there we are expected to just find out ourselves. We are lucky to have you.
