CRSC VA Waiver

Hey everyone!

I recently medically retired from the Army and just recieved my final VA letter.

I already had my CRSC packet prepared and mailed it in.
I just got the HRC email saying it’s been received.

My only worry is that in MyPay, I don’t have a VA Waiver under eRAS.

I called MyPay and they told me I didn’t need one since I’m not getting retirement pay, but VA pay instead.

Will this cause an issue with my CRSC claim?

I looked online and it said that the VA automatically sends paperwork to DFAS to put a waiver in my eRAS. But I’m unsure of how this all works.

Anyone have any insight?

Thank you in advance!

As part of the IDES process, you filled out a VA Waiver form, if it's only been a month or two since retirement, once the VA pay kicks in you should see it in your eRAS. If you're more than 20 years AFS and went through IDES, you won't see the waiver if you're VA-rated 50% or more. You should be fine.

I was told to wait until DFAS has setup your VA waiver to apply. That's why I haven't sent mine in just yet. My wounded warrior rep told me a few days ago to wait until after your first or second VA check to apply - I assume they told me this for the same reason... making sure the DFAS has setup the VA waiver.

Apparently branches have been automatically denying if a waiver isn't setup in the account yet.

Could be wrong, though. Just a heads up.

That's the best COA tbh and usually what I tell people to do as well.
