Fort Lewis PEB

Your still waiting for orders? My peblo told me it would be NLT friday and i signed my DA199 on Monday :-\

Good news on my end. I was contacted and told I was put on TRANSPRO on Monday, called and had an appointment with our local retirement guy here in CA on Tuesday, and have orders in my hand as of Wednesday. He's able to draft orders and DD214s, and I left his office after about an hour with orders, a draft of my DD214, a separation date, leave plans, and a house hold goods appointment.

This part of the process went by incredibly fast. I signed and sent my DA199 up on the 16th of July, and got notice of TRANSPRO procedings on the 30th of July.

I made a little link chain today at work with days left towards retirement and am counting down the 61 days until my final out now.

AKO is showing "Awaiting Formal PEB Findings" with a date from last week (IPEB?). Is that the same thing as the EPEB?
Think it's IPEB, I don't quite remember that status. Sorry.
Is mrs. Leviene the person who handles it at the PEB?
No she is the person that is couseling Soldiers on the PEB and VA findings. She is a PEBLO.

TRANSPROC brief is completely different than the Retirement brief, correct? I'm going to the retirement brief this coming Tuesday.

Yes they are completely different, the retirement brief you are going to is the G-1 Pre-retirement to go over tricare, SBP, and benefits. The Transpoc brief is like a transition brief, but specifically targeted to med seperations and med retirements. If your TDRL or PDRL you basically have to build a mini retirement packet and have 10 days to complete it and submit to get your orders cut.:)

Alright, I've got most of the stuff I need together already, minus my enlistment/reenlistment contracts but I'll just pull those off iPerms. So ready to get this over with. I'm taking 20 days of leave starting next week to get rid of excess but I'll be in the area so I can still take care of the TRANSPOC stuff while I'm on leave. I picked up a letter from my CO so I can clear CIF early (thank god). I guess I have to meet with my VA MSC again because PDA changed me to retirement and I think that will take the longest to get an appointment for.

Great news on the retirement! Being that you have almost everything ready, this means the sooner your done. I think you misspoke on the transpoc stuff, we are clearing just like anyone else for a ETS. Your MSC doesn't need to see you until you have your orders in hand, then go see them! Also contact your VA rep for the hospital, dunno if you have one and let them know your leave dates as soon as you find them out! They will also need a copy of your orders too!

got a question about VA benefits, if i am taken off the CPAP machine for Sleep Apnea and put on a dental device instead will i lose my 50%. I am not improving according to pulminary and wants to put me on a dental device.

When I signed my original 199 for severance on the 26th of June, my MSC (Dan and MAMC) called me and I met with him a week later to go over my benefits and set up my direct deposit information. He also instructed me to get my medical records and a few other things and to come back and see him AFTER I received my DD214. So, according to my PEBLO (Mine and the one you mentioned in the PM who gave me my NEW 199 with the retirement on it) told me I needed to see him, AGAIN because my status was changed.

Right now, I'm on leave until the 27th to get rid of my excess and to take care of most of this stuff without having to miss work (I was running into some hot water because I was gone so much last week due to the change of my severance to retirement).

I wish I had specific dates in front of me so I can do a PEB timeline, but I can tell you that I was put on a P3 in EARLY November of 2010, and was recommended for MEB shortly after. I signed my NARSUM on the 27th of September 2011 and went through the Fusion Cell in March 2012. I'd also like to add that I didn't try to appeal anything or ADD anything to my records while going through the MEB process. I also saw my PEBLO every two or three weeks for the last (almost) 2 years and it took me stumbling onto a service that the wounded warrior project offers to get the ball rolling. Ugh, so ready to be DONE!

That's why I told you to go see them to show them the change on your orders!;)

Any idea how long it takes to. Get orders after signing my 199? I have been told it could be a month! How does it take so long, they are writing anything individually about me.

It's going to vary based on the person/office cutting your orders. Mine were ready the same afternoon that I had an appointment with the retirement guy who briefs and cuts orders - he did them in front of me and prepared a draft of my DD214. It was by far and away the easiest part of this entire process to date. Other people on here are reporting a mix of times from 1-4 weeks to get orders. Basically as soon as you get put on TRANSPRO you can get orders cut, its just a matter of getting ahold of the right people for your case to get it done or being patient and letting it work its way through the system.

Important things to remember: Any orders are going to be based off of your date of requested separation, taking into consideration your drop-dead-must-be-gone-within-90-days date as well. You need to select this date from which the orders can be worked from.

It depends on your willingness to get all of the required documents ahead of time as I suggested on my list, that way it will take 0-5 days for them to be cut on Fort Lewis!

Could you send me a list of the things I need to get once i sign my 199 to my inbox? My PEBLO will not answer that question.

Look at post #171 on this forum! ;)

what if your getting severance?

Sorry, didn't see that post...
I have no clue on what the severence personnel have to do, sorry...

I really feel for others that are stuck in this system. The VA dated their proposed letter on my disabilities on 12 July and haven't heard anything further. The waiting and not being able to do anything about it is painful (especially for this type-A soldier). I have several issues being addressed, so I know that my file will take longer then most. Anyone close to the same timeline have his 199 yet?

I jokingly say that I am like a 8 year old waiting for Christmas, except I don't know when it is coming, or if Santa thinks that I have been good or not... LOL. I love the Army and have had great jobs. Just want to make sure that I can take care of my family when I get out. (I deserve a lump of coal. The family deserves more.)

I really have liked my multiple PEBLOs, but they don't get any updates either. It would suck to have their job.

All (Grunts, Zoomies, Swabbies, and Leathernecks), thanks for your service to our Country!

OK here is some info for JBLM Soldiers for the seperation part after you sign your 199:
1. Immediately go to Waller Hall and go to the RSO office and get the next pre-retirement brief date (can not be on terminal leave to attend)
2. Start your DA-31, leave the dates blank and the amount of days requested blank. Try and get it signed blank so it is ready for right after your transpoc brief.
3. The following statement has to be in Block 17 Remarks section of the DA-31:

"I understand that this absence is not directed by and U.S. Government official. I further understand that I cannot conduct public business under this authorization. Accordingly, I will not be entitled to reimbursement for travel, per diem, or any other expenses. I understand that I have the right to cancel it at any time and return to my regular place of duty. PDTY _________ to __________"

4. The day that you turn your packet in, they have 5 days to cut your orders. (Supposedly)
5. The day of your transpoc brief is the start date of your 90 day countdown.
6. If you are not taking leave and selling days. Give yourself time to get things set after you have your packet ready. Give yourself 2-3 weeks for your last day.
7. The 90th day after your transpoc brief is your new ETS date, unless you elect to seperate earlier due to selling leave days or you don't have many leave days. If you have more than 60 days of leave go through your PEBLO to request an extension and have you removed from transpoc list, take up some leave days and use them, then get put back on the transpoc list.

This is a list of things you need to have for your packet as of July 2012, if you don't have them readily available, try and get them asap.:
1. Prior DD214's/NGB 22 (if this applies to you, this is specifically for prior service)
2. All enlistment contracts/re-enlistments/extensions (4/1, 4/2, & 4/3) (1st Contract and 1st page of re-enlistment contracts)
3. Updated ERB, ensure everything is correct I MEAN EVERYTHING. Your ERB in section (up by the promotion info) the Reenl Elig/Prohib needs to say 9H, if it says 9T that is ok. If it says 1O they will not let you get your orders. To fix this you need to see your BN or BDE retention NCO. Most other fixes for data info can be fixed by your S-1 Shop.
4. DD 2648 ACAP checklist. The one you and the ACAP Counselor signed and has a red stamp on it. (Made a photo copy of it, hope that will do)
5. Updated DD93 and the SGVL (this is 2 pieces of paper and they are not the same thing.) They must be valid for 120 days after seperation.
6. DA 3286-67 if you fall under Enlisted for Loan Repayment Program. (If you don't know what this is, then you don't need it!)
7. Bars to re-enlistment/Flags/Promotion orders. Yes, your ops have to give them to you! Flag removals too if you have a flag removed before seperation.
8. Declination Statement. (If you don't know what a Dec Statement is then it doesn't apply to you)
9. MEDEVAC Orders (Only if deployment is under 8 months & 15 days) (Why? So they can give you an Overseas Ribbon! Thats why!)(If you don't know what this is, then it has nothing to do with you.)
10. Counseling statement/address form/request for orders (these are given to you at the transpoc brief, and no you can't get them ahead of time!)
11. DA-31 for Transitional(Terminal) Leave (must have a control number and signature block typed or printed of the person who approved the leave.)
12. Promotion Orders if promotable. FOR THIS YOU DEAL DIRECTLY WITH BDE S-1, YOUR BN HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS!!! Note: If Soldier is promotable the attached ERB with your new ETS date (written on top by you) bring it to your BDE S-1 if unit is in PSDR. Promotion orders are REQUIRED per paragraph 8 of the MILPER MSG 09-067. The promotion date WILL be the last day on Active Duty. PSDR units are REQUIRED to publish the promotion order. Orders for Non-PSDR units will be published by the installation promotion section.

The Transpoc briefs are every Tuesday and Thursday at 11:00 at the Transition Office at Waller Hall. Sign in is 10:30.

You will have 8 business days to have this packet turned in.

I say again, you do not need any of this stuff at the brief!!! This is just information for you to be prepared! I think this was everything covered... LOL!:):p

Addition to #2-- Ensure you get a copy of the leave form after it's approved so you can figure your leave and your "Final Out Date" while in the transpoc brief.
Addition to #6-- Give yourself another 10 business days added to that 2-3 weeks so you have plenty of time to clear off post.

Another thought: Clearing CIF without orders; all you need is a one-liner memorandum for record from your commander to clear without orders.
i.e. All that needs to be on it is "PVT Bob, Billy J. 123-45-6789 requests to turn in TA-50 with out orders. Seperation estimated to be 15 October 2012." Commanders signature block and thats it!
The memo is good for 30 days according to CIF, once you pass that 30 day mark you need a new memo.

May have more thoughs later!
