Fort Lewis PEB

I signed my 199 few days ago and my ebenfits went back to gathering evidence lol

I don't have a fit or unfit either EODStew24. I was told that I have to wait for the VA to do their prelims, then it gets sent back to the PEB. Once it is back at the PEB they do their ratings and put together the unfit or fit memo.

If the PEB requested proposed ratings from the VA then you were found unfit. If you were found fit then they would issue a permanent profile and the PEB process would stop at that point. There would be no reason to request proposed ratings from the VA if their intent was to retain you.

Do you know what "Election" means on the EPEB? This is my status six weeks after submitting a written rebuttal to my IPEB.
Not a clue, contact Sasha Roberson on this site she is a PEBLO.

Once he gets his orders, you'll have 2 weeks formal notice left on the clock.

Don't sweat it. As long as he stays in contact with transitions, and keeps you in the loop, you should have 14 days to give formal notice.

It may be longer than 2 weeks due to the amount of leave saved or being sold, or if they have over 90 days saved an extension can be done to change the ETS to a later date so the SM can use all of their leave. I myself took 65 days of leave and had orders in hand 1 1/2 weeks before I started clearing.

They were waiting to see who got elected to see if they would have money to pay for your benefits!
LOL, I don't think so... Got me to giggle though!

Just got word.... 1 NOV VA received packet from PEB. Was told should find out results mid DEC. and sign 199.

OH FOR SURE!!! My bad.... I didn't write out my thought clearly enough on that post.

Once the PDA signs off on his packet, they send it to the folks that do the orders. The folks who input the request for orders go off the date PDA signed off on his packet and generally assign 90 days from that date.

At least, that's what my PEBLO told me, and she's been a PEBLO for 10 years.

Yes, under certain circumstances, and for qualified reasons, that date can be extended. But I was told extending orders are very specific to the situation as it screws up their timeline "success" rate percentages.

When people "sit" on orders, or when orders are cut and excessive time goes by before the SM gets ahold of them - like what may have happened in your case - well, that's a foul on them - no fault on your end and they have to fix it.

At least that's how my PEBLO explained it.

Hucklebuck, thank you for that information. I am going to get with my PEBLO tomorrow and hopefully she can get my unfit memo.

The VA got my packet from PEB going on 57 days now.[/quote

Every case is different... I started in April, had a 2 month delay because my unit wouldnt finish my ORB. I think my timeline has actually gone really quick. Fort Irwin is using JBLM PEB and the average time from start to finish is 9 months total.

Well Sorry yours is taking so long. But everytime I post an optimistic post about my timeline, someone comes in and tries to post a negative one about how long their timeline is taking. The fact, mine has gone pretty quick, and the timelines I was told they would meet, they have met. Maybe yours is lost, maybe yours is backed up, maybe someone isn't telling you something.

Well not entirely true, what can be done is say you have 90 days saved plus 20ish use or lose. You come up on transpoc, but you don't want sell any of your days. Pretty much the thing that you can do is call your PEBLO to to call transition to have you removed from the list, take the amount of leave you want... say 65 days. A few days before your leave is up call the PEBLO and tell them to call transition to put you back on the list. Now your around 45 days left and then your PTDY included is 75 days... This would leave normal work day, 15 days to clear and 75 days for terminal/PTDY leave... Saves a huge amount of money for the soldier, plus that's an extra 3 months of pay they would have otherwise lost.

Also with the orders I didn't wait, I waited 2 business days after my retirement packet was complete to get my orders in hand, due to the fact I was proactive. There was a delay in getting clearing papers because my leave started a few weeks later. So they waited to give clearing papers for a week and a half, then my 10 days to clear, then I went on leave.

OK Got it grizz13. Looks like my PEBLO was mis-informed. She was a good one and very helpful to me when compared to all the other PEBLOs on this site SMs have.

But she was in error on this point.

Glad you posted this grizz13. This is good stuff to know - accurate stuff to know - especially so if someone has alot of leave time on the books.

Thanks Grizz13!

Where did the notification come from (PEBLO/VA/Ombudsman)? I am a week behind you. (6 Sep 2012 packet went to PEB for fit/unfit ruling).

Transitions can also request that you be able to use all your leave even if it goes past the 90 day mark. You will need to have a 4187 done requesting that you use all your leave, must be signed by an 06 or higher. You will then need to turn that in with a completed DA 31 and current LES to transitions and they will forward to PDA for approval.

I know this because I used to work in transitions, and I never saw one disapproved.

Dear Sascha Roberson:

Thanks for clearing this up for us and helping Army Servicemembers know what to do and how to do it. This is good stuff to know as some SMs have saved up alot of leave time from their many deployments.
