The 8 years only applies if you are being medically separated. If you are PDRL or TDRL then you could have served 90 days and still get to pick HOS

To give some perspective my app closed Dec 20 and I signed Feb 19. So it could be anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months. Depends on a lot of factors.
