The sanctuary standards that used to exist do not anymore. I cannot apply for retirement because I am coded. The regulation states that you are not eligible to retire if you are in the MEB process.

Because I've have 19 years and 7 months of service and I need to buy all the time I can to make it to 20 years so I can collect dual retirement and disability pay.

Has anyone heard of a case where the VA ratings reconsideration led to the VA lowering the initial rating instead of increasing or keeping it the same? I am getting ready to submit a VA recon and was kind of worried about it but my AF lawyer isn't concerned. Thanks. AF 40%/ VA 80%

Right now I'm 185 days away from reaching my 20 year mark...I have 60 days of leave and 30 days PTDY (already approved by my Commander) and hopefully I don't receive a court date until the end of August. I am scraping by here to lengthen this process out.....I may make it by the skin of my teeth!

Just signed the paperwork to proceed to an FPEB. Waiting on a court date.

Thanks for the response, I to have a couple of issues that I can appeal. I do have more evidence to try and increase a rating for a rated condition or appeal the fact that my initial injury happened in a combat zone.

So new update, I received my ratings on 22 Jun and an very surprised how quick the process went. Actually, it went way too fast due to the fact that I needed this to stretch out so I could hit 20 years. That is still my goal but I'm not sure if the appeals process will help in stretching it...

I am in a similar situation, I am at 19 years and 5 months and I am hoping that I am able to stretch this out to 20. I am sweating bullets and don't understand how they can take someone who is so close to the end and jerk them around. I have given 20 years to the AF and hopefully they see fit...
