PEBLO presents AF 618
She tells me the MEB is recommending continued service because of block 22.
Which has the following:
Block 22. BY DIRECTION OF THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY, THE BOARD CONVENED TO CONSIDER THE CASE OF THE ABOVE NAMED MEMBER.
A. UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE FOLLOWING DIRECTIVES
Check box "AFI 44-113 and 48-123" is checked
B. FOR THE PURPOSE OF:
Check box "CONTINUED ACTIVE DUTY" is checked
Other check boxes: "EPTS defects", "SEPARATION/RETIREMENT", "OTHER (SPECIFY)"
Block 25. ACTION RECOMMENDED BY BOARD (or directed by higher authority)
REFER TO IPEB.
My PEBLO is telling me the MEB is recommending I continue service just because that box is checked in block 22, but according to AFI 41-210 there are only two options for the conclusion of the board:
"4.60.3. Medical Evaluation Board recommendations. The Medical Evaluation Board membership may choose from the following two actions: (1) Return to Duty or (2) Refer to Informal Physical Evaluation Board. Note: Even though the Medical Evaluation Board was initially directed by AFPC/DP2NP following Initial Review-In-Lieu-Of, rare instances may arise where new information may become available (e.g., condition changes, updated consults, information from Compensation and Pension (C&P) Exam, updated commander’s letter, etc.) 98 AFMAN41-210 10 SEPTEMBER 2019 that result in a Return to Duty decision instead of Refer to Informal Physical Evaluation Board. When this occurs, the complete case will be forwarded to AFPC/DP2NP or ARC Surgeon General’s Office, instead of being forwarded to AFPC/DPFD (Informal Physical Evaluation Board)."
So how does she tell me just because that check box in block 22 is checked that they are recommending continued service?????????????? Any AFI/AFMAN/Anything? I can't find ANYTHING.
