I have 6 more months until I hit my 19 years of active duty time. Can I drop my 20 year letter at that point and be safe? Meaning will I be able to retire with my 20 years Active Duty time as long as I make it to the 19 year mark and drop my retirement request for a retirement date? I had 2 open heart surgeries back in 2008. Im on blood thinners for life as well as have an artificial aortic valve in my heart. This is the main reason I am being boarded. I really want to get my 20 years so I can collect concurrent receipt.
