I'm an ADSM. I was recently diagnosed with bipolar II disorder from an off-post provider. My old NCO had the same condition, and he was MEB. I gave my PCM and on post BH Doc my note from my off post provider. My PCM put a request for MEB last week, and I got a call from a MEB doctor today. The doctor said that my military BH provider did not diagnose me in his note, although he verbally diagnosed me after screening me, agreeing with my off post provider. The MEB doctor also said that Bipolar disorder is not in its self a MEB qualifying condition. Is the MEB doctor telling the truth that bipolar is not a disqualifying condition? What can I do about the BH doc who wont document that I have Bipolar? Any resources or guidance would me much apricated.
I would go back to the BH doctor and ask that they initiate a MEB. Another approach is to get your chain of command to initate a mental health fit for duty exam.
