Briefing to Recovering Warrior Task Force

I was invited by the RWTF to brief them on my concerns and recommendations. Attached are the slides I used to facilitate that conversation. All was well received. time will tell if any of it translates into recommendations the RWTF makes to DoD and Congress.

Page 14 I can attest to. I was denied surgery last year for cervical compression due to I am in the IDES. Now I have permanent nerve damage to my spinal cord, Myelomalacia, because the problem was not fixed. I am now being allowed the surgery after the damage is non-repairable and has gotten worse. However the only thing that can be fixed is what is causing the problem, the compression. Being a reservist the later slides I have seen the problems with also.

Likewise - #14 - denial of surgery is a BIGGIE!

Broke ankle & tore ligaments during IDES. ROM failed - qualified as an unfit condition. Ortho Surgeon said I needed surgery & full written request with full medical treatment records. Was denied due to being in the IDES process.

Never got surgery, never got repaired, never got rated for this injury, AND my ankle healed up all wrong & goofy. Ankle is NOW a Permanent Injury as opposed to a temporary one that surgery could have fixed.

So much for transitioning the SMs into the work force ready to work!
