C and P Exams

Should i contact the QTC and ask them how long they think it will take to process my paper work? or do you think that would piss off my peblo?

In my opinion, the answer is yes.

Thus, it's always a good practice to be proactive.

The best route is to ask your PEBLO first. If they don't have the answer, then maybe give a call up there. Remember, they are too crazy about sm's calling direct, but if you are nice and just ask the simple questions, you should be ok. Realize that they might call your PEBLO and ask why they aren't relaying info to you. This is how it happened to me when I called the PEB. The PEB gave me the info that my PEBLO said he didn't have, and when my PEBLO asked if I had called up there- I told him yes and that they were able to give me the exact day that they sent my package up to the VA for ratings...the very same info he had told me was "unavailable". Once he realized that he wasn't doing his job and that I wasn't going to sit around and accept "no news" as an answer, his performance improved. Imagine that.

I just go done with all myC&P exams. I was siting here wondering what is the point of the C&P when I have a massive medical file worth if 2 years of treatment by multiple Drs some which are experts in thier field. What is the point of haveing me checked by a PA? One quick visit isn't going to tell them shit

In my opinion, that's a good observation, but Congress established the VASRD as the standard under which percentage rating decisions are to be made for disabled military personnel. Such decisions are to be made according to Title IV of the Career Compensation Act of 1949 (Title IV is now mainly codified in 10 USC 61.). Percentage ratings in the VASRD represent the average loss in earning capacity resulting from these diseases and injuries. The ratings also represent the residual effects of these health impairments on civil occupations.

Within the U.S. Army, the VASRD is primarily used as a guide for evaluating disabilities resulting from all types of diseases and injuries encountered as a result of, or incident to, military service. Because of differences between Army and VA applications of rating policies, differences in ratings may result.

Moreover, unlike the VA, the Army must first determine whether or not a Soldier is fit to reasonably perform the duties of his office, grade, rank, or rating. Once a Soldier is determined to be physically unfit for further military service, percentage ratings are applied to the unfitting conditions from the VASRD. These percentages are applied based on the severity of the condition.

With that all said, without the DoVA C&P Examination results, the military service member will not receive any potential DoD ratings and DoVA ratings under the new DoD IDES MEB/PEB process. Thus, the DoVA C&P Examination clinicians are supposed to thoroughly review your VA C-file plus any military and/or civilian medical condition documentation; sadly this action sometimes doesn't occur.

Thanks for the explanation. I am just nervous about all this. Should have my NARSUM done soon and I really hope it reads well.

Once C and P exams are uploaded to VA....how long before the next stage occurs? anyone know? And should my peblo contact me?

Once C and P exams are uploaded to VA....how long before the next stage occurs? anyone know? And should my peblo contact me?

In my opinion, I offer the following responses to your questions as follows:

Q1. How long before the next stage occurs?
A1a. Unknown, it's specific for each individual IDES case file.
A1b. If you are inquiring about the PEB Phase; then, published IDES timelines state 100 calendar days for Active Component (AC) members and 140 calendar days for Reserve Component (RC) members.

Q2. Anyone know?
A2. The only official published timeline within the MEB Phase for medical evaluation is 45 calendar days for AC members and RC members.

Q3. Should my PEBLO contact me?
A3. Yes, upon completion of the NARSUM by the MEB Physician(s).

Thus, possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer.

Best Wishes!
