COAD Questions

Has anyone on this board been approved for COAD? How much time does it take for them to determine a result if you request it? Has any one seen and approved COAD for some one with under 15 years for combat related injuries?

My husband has 12 years active duty, he is an Army E7. He is 11b so he would have to be retrained, but he has exceptionally high text scores and maxed the dlab, so, we are hoping that they may consider him for a COAD job. I was hoping to find some similar examples to compare it to. Or any sort of advice. We are awaiting the result of his ipeb and his peblo says after we receive that, he is illegible to put in a COAD packet at that time if he chooses.

Hi,
I just went thru the COAD process at 18 yrs 10 mo TIS and unfortunately was denied the opportunity to continue on active duty. The only advice that I can give you is to make sure that you have as many letters as possible from various people in your husband's CoC stating that he is able to work within his limitations. Also, if possible, see if there are any units that your husband might be a good fit in and have him call the CSM and talk to them about his situation. A COAD has a greater chance of being approved if there is a potential job already lined up for the SM. Hope this helps and GL :)

Thanks, we'll try to get as much documentation as possible.
