COLA Fix Misses the Mark

See my comment to the article. COLA reductions should not happen at all but to limit COLA reduction protection to only chapter 61 disability retirees further illuminates the ignorance of Congress on military disability issues.

WOW!

I read your web posting and you really nailed this issue on the head!

This Cola-reduction "exempt status" only protects a very narrow band of disabled - providing the Veterans disabled condition falls under this new protective definition by "virtue" of certain, specific administrative actions that DID/DID NOT occur in their respective disability cases.

WOW!

The qualifying administrative conditions required to fall under the new COLA reduction "exempt status" is FULL of holes.

This "fix" is akin to giving a person on a sinking ship a bailing bucket filled with holes.

I hope you reprint your response to this web site maparker.

EVERY DISABLED VETERAN needs to know that only a narrow band of disabled Veterans will qualify for full COLA under this COLA reduction "fix".

A BIG percentage of disabled Veterans are going to fall through the holes in this "fix" and WILL NOT get full COLA.

HOLY COW!
